Default People with Intakes, is your engine bay dirtier

I have a pet peeve of having a clean engine bay. I have noticed since I added my SRT intake, it gets dirty quickly. And there is dirt everywhere now? Is it me, the intake or should I expect this. I gotta clean my bay everytime I wash the car now.

Sick,

I have never noticed this problem. Have you been driving on more dirt roads lately perhaps?

I still clean my engine bay on a weekly basis, but I think it started to get dirtier because of the TRD grill...

Naw, just this filthy ATL air.

Hmm, I have the TRD grill. Maybe this is the problem.

Thanks for the repsonses. I can't believe only 2 people here have an intake.

Maybe because an intake won't cause your engine bay to become dirtier.

Sorry - you walked into that one.

Think about it though. The OEM intake vs a aftermarket intake. Neither filter & retuen the air in the engine bay.

More likely, is since that the OEM intake which draws from the front of the grill area, it probably blocks some of the airflow into the engine bay by sucking it in.

Remove the OEM intake, more air (and dust) passes through the grill, and lands on your engine bay surfaces.

Default That was a gotcha!

I am in “shock and awe” of the crystal-clear mental gymnastics exhibited by “The Dex”. Of course! What else could it be?

It’s ok, Sick – since you’re in Georgia, you just had a mild case of overexposure to the word “peach”.

Question A little off the subject...sorry...

Since you all are talking about how dirty the engine got and stuff, I was wondering then how are you supposed to go about cleaning it? I bought some engine degreaser spray at AutoZone, but haven't messed around with it yet b/c I'm afraid that I might spray the wrong parts and damage the engine. Sorry this should have been a new posting. But thanks anyways.
