Default Looking For An Alternative

I currently have a tanabe hyper medalion catback exhaust (tips and y pipe) on the car but its honestly not loud enough as is. Im looking to get more out of the 2jz. Would a straight pipe be much louder and where can I get a good quality straight pipe fabbed for the car or is there any good brands already out there.

Heres an example of what it sounds like right now with a good quality DSLR.

I have straight pipes on my daily GS3 and it sounds like crap lol. Has a buzz noise to it. Maybe take the resonators off and put some cherry bombs or glass packs in place of the resonators

I don't have a 2JZ, but a resonator delete on my 400 went a long way. It really barks now, look into it for your 300!

I actually just put some flowmasters on today and have had the resonators deleted for awhile. I'm very very happy with the sound.

Kind of semi-related, I have the same axleback as you on GS400, with PPE headers and SRT intake. the car still sounds super quiet. Looking for a nice burbling idle noise if possible. Would you guys recommend chopping all the resonators? or just the big main one?

I can't speak for the 400. But when I did the resonator delete with just the stock exhaust I honestly didn't see or hear that much of a difference I don't think doing the delete would be the cause of drone. Though my drones bad in that 2300 rpm range but I don't mind it.

keep in mind that the GS3 and GS4 will sound completely different as you know when modding the exhaust..... I would try the resonator delete and maybe the top speed pro Y pipe.. I think there a youtube vid with the Top Speed pro kit on a GS3...

You should make a a totally separate thread for the 400 its a completely different engine and will sound different when modding exhausts.

Thanks fellas, I'll look into it.

Do a 3" midpipe with a muffler delete. Cheap and sounds pretty good.

If "louder" is what you seek, then the easiest way is probably to buy the catback that I run on my daily - the "fake" GReddy Evo - sold by megan, top speed and a bunch of ebay sellers.

My other GS4 has the real Greddy and it is much quieter than the fake one - mostly due to one detail, the GReddy has small reversion tubes in the mufflers that allow more sound to be absorbed - I am in the process of making some for my fake catback.

But for you, I think the ebay catback will be just what you are looking for. just don't be fooled into spending more money for the same system, they are all the same, I see it selling for $300 and also for $500 and $700+

No matter hat you do with your Tanabe, it's designed to be a mellow setup and isn/t going to be very loud - DON'T get me wrong - it's a great system.

But if you want LOUD...
