Default 2IS F Sport Filter in 3IS fitment

I’ve searched but can’t find a definite answer to this question. Will the 2IS F Sport filter, This part http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2012/2155.html, fit into the 3IS air box? Has anyone done this?

Thanks, but I'm asking about the F Sport filter.

K&N is good but I just don't like the whole oil thing.

No it will not fit.
The shape is totally different.
The only non-oil filter I can find is Blitz filter 59546

well, not completely true... The F sport filter that comes with the intake is meant for the 2is and it does fit, but I had to take the box out and very carefully put into place. there was a little shaving involved as well... I used a razor blade to cut a little extra of the rubber away.

So it'll fit with some modifications...

@NVMarkus - can you take a picture of what you meant?

Not sure if this is even relevant anymore now that's the 3IS F Sport intake is out.

It will fit, though it's not a perfect fit. It's a touch thick for the 3IS box. I tried it and took a lot of effort to get it closed.

I could see how some light trimming would make it work - the shape is the same.

Installed the 2IS F Sport filter yesterday. Like NVMarkus and CJW have mentioned it is thick for the 3IS box. Nothing a little trimming can't fix. Pics below.

Size compare. 3IS stock filter vs 2IS F Sport filter

Good to know. Is there a difference in sound?

Good question.

Going from stock 3IS intake pipe (with sound generator) to 2IS F Sport intake pipe with stock filter - the car got quieter, almost silent.

Adding the 2IS F Sport filter with the 2IS F Sport intake pipe adds some intake sound when accelerating - subtle but nice.

Good to "hear"

I must be the only person that likes the sound of the F Sport or Joe Z better than the stock with the sound generator. It now sounds real instead of like an add on noise maker.
