Air filter question.
What do you guys think about the K&N cabin air filter and engine filter? I've been reading mixed reviews about the engine filter, one of them being that it allows bigger particles to pass through, thus maybe causing problems in the future? I have an IS350 F Sport 2015 and was looking into replacing the filters with these K&N. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't bother on a 3,500 lb commuter. you won't be punking anything cause you got yourself a racey filter.
Just get a Lexus F Sport filter on ebay and call it a day. it's good cause it looks cool and is washable. no need to jerk it off with oil

Agreed - I'll be getting the F-Sport filter once I get around to it. Good thing is it should fit in the stock air box without any modification necessary.

^Yep. pull the carbon filter for extra efficiency (flow wise)

I think I provided some educational info on that in my other thread I linked. But basically all the carbon filter is there for is to absorb unburnt gas vapors stuck in the intake tract after shut off. That vapor has to go somewhere and the only escape it has is back through the airbox. It serves no other purposes. you can technically install such a carbon filter on any old 90s car. the car doesn't know the difference with it off or on.
on the flip side, the design of the box likely takes the extra restriction into account, so any performance gains are likely negligible. Still though, an easy and cheap mod. it's just glued onto the airbox. just take an exacto and carefully trim the glued tabs off. But make sure the box is trimmed nicely so no extra plastic debris make it inside your engine.
