Default Any Custom Made Intakes out there?

I am in the market for an intake, mainly for fuel economy reasons. I am contemplating the Weapon R CAI, because K&N is more expensive and I heard its not worth the money. Honestly all I need is the MAF adapter and I would build my own. I just want to know if anyone is building this adapter, intake piping or know where to find one? I have been all over CL, eBay and the internet. All they have is MAF adapters that have a circular adapter, not the long rectangular one for the 98-00 GS400 Any help would be appreciated

The only "custom" intake I've seen for the 400 is with a user who took his K&N, and added another coupler/pipe to extend it into the fenderwell/bumper. I've also seen a few custom airboxes (I know Sakataj has or had one at one point). But, that's the extent of what I've seen. I haven't seen anyone selling only the MAF adapters though.

Wow, where did you find this pic? Through my research I have yet to find this. Lol. I would have thought that there would have been another car that shares the same style MAF that we could use. I thought Subaru, would use the same Denso MAF

It's hard coming from a Honda and going to a Lexus. It's a ton of cheap intakes and mods for Hondas and its hard to imagine that there are no mods or custom mods for our cars

this is retarded..you want cheap go to Homedepo get your self some PVC and 5" Cone filter and be done.. Your so called "MODS or CUSTOM MODS" brings the Second Gen GS closer to What the Civic is looked at in the streets..Rice..

Use the search and See what TRUE AFTERMARKET INTAKES are available besides "CUSTOM MODS"

I'm not trying to cheap out. I want the best for my money. I'm not racing so the SRT will not be a good investment for a daily. I just figured that I could make one just as good for 1/2 the cost if not more and it be good for what I need it for. I'm asking for advice not criricism based on a difference of opinions.

There's plenty of pics out there, HKS been making that adapter for over 10 years.

BTW these US cars have the same maf mount:

98-00 GS300/400
99-01 Solara
99-01 Camary
97-98 NA Supra

Don't expect any real changes in performance or mileage from an intake. These cars don't respond like the speed density honda's do.

Being Cheap on Intake will most likely get you nothing but a code, if your lucky you will one of the 50% that wont get it, but without any gains in performance. The SRT cost $$ for a Reason..In general any proper mod with R&D will cost you.. Ill let you search away now..

Use the search and see what true aftermarket intakes are available besides "custom mods"

that could be part of it but you still need a elbow and then decide if you want it in the fender or make a custom box to accommodate the filter. This has been covered multiple times over the years... Please search.. I found three very quickly..

I might be new to the fourm but I have used CL multiple times in the past. No one has posted how to build your own or even what other cars use the same MAF adapter as our cars. This thread is about where to find the MAF adapter and then.proceed to build your own, using elbows and parts from autozone or where ever. I am looking to uncover and shed light to the unknown DIYs out there and would like some to comment who has physically put the time and effort in to build something, not just someone who buys things because everyone else says to, or some who buys just because of a name brand. I thought we were all here because our Passion for the GS and cars but it seems like so many people are quick to criticize but few offer help.

If you have done the research you would know that GS 300/400/430 do not respond to a pipe and filter like hondas do, they don't increase horsepower any real amount and sometimes make the mileage worse. But the biggest issue is the ecu's are so sensitive it's common to continually get O2-too lean codes especially during the summer.

The SRT is the exception because it comes with a 'piggyback' of sorts that has a fixed correction for the ecu and it does make a couple hp on the dyno and you get no codes. It's $500 because of the tune not just an overpriced pipe and cone filter. Don't get defensive because some people are trying to help by saying don't do a cheap pipe, they are correct in saying it doesn't do anything for the car.

Being a mod TMF is gonna encourage new users to read deeper into the history here. As there is considerable talk about various intakes and maf adapters. And of course now the GS300 airbox has the maf tube mounted externally in such a way you can cut the plastic tube off the box and use it as an inline pipe with couplers. The gs400 has the maf mounted sideways in the box so you can't do it to the one you currently have. And there are a few threads here showing that being done. But I suppose you already knew that since you've searched the forum dry.

Oh, and ****-adkt is a staple of rice control on here, and it is well needed for the unfortunate downward spiraling civic-like state of the new wave of second gen GS buyers...
