Default suggested upgrades from stock

I currently have a stock 2001 gs430 and have about 7k to be spending. I'd like to know what everyone thinks the money should be spent on for the best performance gains for the price. Thanks in advance

for 7k you can swap a 2jz-gte in there easily.

Yeah you can easily could do a NA-T build or GTE build if you're looking for performance only. Just to give you some other options though you could get some BC Coils along with some sways and maybe some braces too to tighten up the steering. Boosted or not everyone loves a better handling car and honestly for under 2k you can do that. BC Coils, TRD Sways, FIGS Sway End Links & Ultra Racing Underbraces will probably make it a lot funner to drive with that boost. You could get all of that for about 2k even or a little over 2k. Good luck though man.

Nothing beats the power and reliability of the 2jzgte!

Yeah, I agree. If your looking for performance, the 7k will do that 2jzgte swap easily. Then spend what's left on upgrading that turbo or uprading the suspension and handling.

thanks for the help.. I'll look into the swap a little further. Another question is when adding the engine, should i bring the transmission along with it or keep the OEM? As far as the handling goes, the gs's could probably use a little help there

Okay, I haven't been finding much for under 8500 (they're coming with a Getrag), but i found one on eBay that's in good shape for about 33 with a 5spd. The only problem is that 20 people are watching it. I'll let you all know what happens in a couple days and then ill add onto this thread if I end up doing the swap. Thanks for all the help

You would need to keep it auto as the 6 spd swap will eat up well beyond 7k, a good complete swap is 2.600 plus shipping call this place jdm express japanese 407-657-0040 as they are local to me and I was just there last week and trust me you want theirs because it is so complete.

Oops, I forgot about that.. I'll call them sometime next week. The autos that are on these engines are 4spd right? how different do you think that will be from my 5spd?

Sounds good... do you think the 4 speed will differ much from my 5 speed? I know that there are more gears in the 5 speed, but is there a noticeable difference between the two?

Thanks. I'll let you know all what the plan is gonna be in a little less than a week. I'm off of work for a little so I'll have some extra time to really plan things out and hopefully get this swap going. Thanks for all the help and info

hey guys, so I'm not gonna be able to do this until spring/summer next year. Thanks again for all the help. Hoping to take some of the handling suggestions and work on that when I do the swap.
