JDM 1997 2jz-gte swap into a 98 GS400...

no BS...

what do i have to do?

if i have to, i'm willing to splice in a supra tt wire harness at the ecu location to get the electronics to work.

GSTT: not to be in disrespect many people ask me the same questions and but usually never have the ***** or wallet to do the conversion correctly. If you don't mind bringing your car to southern cal and have $26,000... we'll talk.

FYI I know way more than you think. ...like Mo I have been experimenting with the GS for 4+ years.
Couldn't agree more with everything you said. That is also very good advice. I've actually been talking to Jason from AEM (their engineer) and will be looking into this myself. There is no plug and play wiring for the 00 GS400, but I am far and beyond plug and play at this point, so all I really need is a person/shop specializing in that.....and I think I've found it.

Mariusz,

...Mr. Seibel, the infamous hardwire junkie at AEM. According to him, not enough demand to create a plug and play for the IS300s, GS300/400/430's. They, after all, all share the same wiring connectors.

...the world would of been a better place if an EMS was created for our platform. No more ghetto piggyback crap like the Haltech's, S-AFC's or e-Manage's. Heck it would save tuners so much headaches.

*No disrespect for these items. They do work under normal basic tuning applications.

v300,

you mentioned that if we wanted to use a getrag 6 speed tranny, to just use the supra 6 speed harness and plug up an AEM EMS to it.

are you talking about the engine harness or ecu harness?

from what i gather, the ecu connectors between the gs and the supra are different. correct?

in terms of engine harness, would this plug up directly to the mating connectors/harness leading to the ecu?
i would assume that the abs modulator and other electrical items in the engine bay would also connect to this harness... i'm assuming that a supra harness would not be plug and play (engine harness).

the electricals of this project are the stumbling block... just getting the engine to run properly and the accessories to function properly will be a chore...

also, do you know if the 6 speed tranny would line up the shifter in the right area of the GS? it's a directly link, so the shift would have to line up perfectly in the GS shift box area of the dash.

and for the clutch pedal, i'm assuming that a pedal box from an IS300 would be necessary. including the clutch master cylinder.
use a braided line from the master cylinder to the supra slave cylinder...

i'm planning on running a single turbo from the getgo... this would provide a lot more room on the exhaust side.

things i'm worried about:

1) electricals
2) engine mount differences between GS400 and 2jz-gte
3) 6 speed tranny feasibility
4) allocating an aristo oil pan (and pick up if different)
5) just getting the damn thing started.

oh yeah,

in terms of driveshaft...

for this conversion, would you start off from an aristo, supra tt, or stock gs400 driveshaft?

i'm so ready to ditch the v8, manumatic tranny, GS400 steering wheel...

TIG welder is itching for use....

98 2jz-gte allocated and ready to be purchased

TerryTCL,

just get the complete engine wiring harness from a 93-95 Supra. the ecu wiring harness? let's make sure we're on the same wavelength ...i'm talking about "the plug and play" system. yes, you're going to modify the driveshaft. the only thing i might worry about is the oil pan config. call powerhouse racing if you need custom engine mounts.

dizoita,

why do you want a 6-speed on a 93 GS? do you think you're going to use it? ...if you absolutely have to get a manual try the 5-speed.

v300,

why an engine wiring harness from a 93-95 supra? won't we need a wiring harness from a 96-98 supra? because of the obd2 sensors, etc?

in terms of the ecu side wiring, what are you running? standalone? piggyback? factory 2jz ecu?

which driveshaft should i plan on purchasing so i can get modified? i wish i had the $$$ for a custom carbon fiber driveshaft

oil pan config? can't i just go with an aristo one?

in terms of engine mounts, do you know how much different the mounts and mount locations are between the v8 and 2jz engine? i hope at least 1 or 2 are in the same location...

bro,

why are you making things so complicated? when you go AEM EMS you basically say F*** you to all that OBD-II junk. your're not planning to keep the factory ECU are you?

by the way, my motor is a y2000 one, therefore the VVT-i version. who said anything about me using the US ECU? I have the Aristo ECU... the one with the 4speed tranny control.

v300...

wish it was that easy for me. here in IL, they do emission checks plugging a computer up to your OBD2 data connector. They make sure that all sensors are fully operational in order to pass state regulations.

the motor that i have my hands on is a 1998 motor. i guess i'll see how it goes...

thanks

i'll probably head on over there if i can't get the electricals right.

i'm worried about the engine/tranny mount differences between the FE engine and the GTE engine.
