1st-2nd shift hesitation on first start up?!?!
Weather is a little colder but not much else different.
When I first take off in my car first thing in the am, the tranny hesitates before shifting into 2nd. This is under very moderate acceleration and it runs up to about 3400 rpm before shift.
It only happens once seems to shift normally after that all day.
Any similar experiences or thoughts.
No TC or LSD installed...yet.
In Auto mode, not e-shift also.
TIA.

I'm having the same problem too. It seems like the transmission fluid hasn't warmed up enough. And when it shifts, it does it with a jerk. Did you get your car's transmission fluid and coolant replaced recently? I'm going to get the transmission fluid changed and the antifreeze too. I am hoping replacing those fluids will solve the problem.
This is NORMAL. It's actually 2nd/3rd shift and the tranny makes the engine rev higher on that shift to get everything up to optimal temperature more quickly, which reduces emissions and makes everything work better.
If you don't want it to do this you can let it warm up a bit more in your driveway before leaving.

It might help when warming your car up before you drive it is just cycle through the gears.
Go from 'P' to 'L' (or "1" - whatever you GS guys have) and back up top 'P' again slowly. Don't just slam it from P to L move it one by one at 1 sec intervals or something..
know what I mean? Not totally sure if this helps, but it makes sense theoretically to have the trans get all the fluid through the gears.

Just to clarify...
It stays in first and the rpms climb higher than normal. I let off the gas and then the rpms rise higher again. Car roars along at 3500 or so rpm for a few seconds and then finally goes to 2nd.
Shift is not hard once it finally happens.

they did it intentionally to make warmups faster.. even though I don't agree with the logic of turning a motor more rpm b4 warmup..it can't be circumvented.
Just allow the temp mark to get to the first line before heading out and it will shift normally.
On the coldest days (even in tex), it takes about 3mins of idling for mine to get there. The 2-3 shift is also delayed until it reaches the first temp mark.

Mine does it too. In fact, the other night, I took it out of the garage in 27 degree weather and it seemed like the tranny was "slipping" at startup. Then I got the typical long rev in 1st gear (which I'm used to now). I'm fairly confident all is normal, and it was intended in the design.

I've got the TC and LSD upgrades and I can confirm it still happens as everyone said. It has only started recently in the mornings since the wheather has gotten cold and usually when accelerating out of the first turns coming from my home.
Glad to see this is normal. In my case, the mods have not created this problem since you guys have confirmed the stock set up does the same thing.
