2009 IS250 transmission slipping?
So about a week ago I hydroplaned through a decent sized puddle at about 35mph. I didn't see it or obviously would have avoided, as it was near an intersection on the right hand side of the car. I stopped at my destination and when I got back in the car 10 minutes later there was a distinct growl/grumble coming from the front right side of car when accelerating. I don't know car sounds so that's the best I can describe it. Thought a spark plug may have gotten wet so I let it be and the next day had to drive 60 miles, hoping whatever it was had dried out.
A week later, there is still a slight grumble when accelerating and I also just noticed when at 75mph in 6th gear I hit the gas and according to the computer SHIFTED DOWN to 5th then 3rd gear! Back up to 6th after 6000rpm.
I would love to believe this is a quick fix but does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be besides the transmission?

The noise, I cant guess.
The downshift, is normal. It's trying to help you out by downshifting to pick up speed faster. There's a chart floating around that shows when you floor it in a certain gear, what the computer will do. That is normal, not a bad thing. You want that, especially with a 250 (i have a 250 too, not hating )

Thanks for the response lol I guess it feels strange because I'm not necessarily flooring it, and I drive semi aggressively on a regular basis but it seems weird to have to go up to 6000+ rpm to gain 10mph? Might be psyching myself out reading about all the bad things that can happen to transmissions.
