hey all,
I have noticed that in colder weather I get check engine light with my intake setup. I used to have this problem with srt intake too. I had made hole on the side and attached the factory front air directer so that more colder air can be directed toward the intake. When I did that with srt setup, I had check engine light so I had posted a question here and someone said that with srt setup I am not suppose to have direct cold air for gs300 because it was not made that way. So when I had removed the access to direct cold air, the problem went away. Now my problem is that with my current weapon r setup, its doing same thing but only in colder weather. I have weapon r with s-afc and I attached the aluminum pipe to fatory air directer so it would breathe colder air. Now I didn't not s-afc tuned with air directer. On usual mild to warm weather I have no check light, and my intake pipe is pretty warm since the engine compartment is hot and I have no cold air box currently. But ever since with pipe directing colder air to intake, on cold weather, the intake pipe is cold even with significant time in driving so I think this means that air directer is doing good job of getting cold air to intake. So my question is, what can I do to get rid of this check engine light? I think my car is fine but it's just bothering me. I believe colder air means more power so I am happy that intake is getting colder air. Should I retune the s-afc setting? I am getting direct cold air ram kit for weapon r intake soon so what should be best solution?
thanks for your help.

Sounds like too much air / oxygen content. Cooler air, more oxygen. Try removing the direct clothes dryer hose thingy again? Just a thought.
I guess I will try that, but so you are saying that too much oxygen is not good? do you think that since its just getting more oxygen now, re-tuning the fuel ratio setting from s-afc fix the problem? thanks for your help.
Don't feel badly. My GS4 ( with the SRT setup ) tends to trip the "Check Engine" light with every weather change!! If a weather front comes thru & the light's off, it'll come on the next startup OR if it's on, then it'll go off!!?? Just kinda learned to live with it.
does it even log an error code? that does not make any sense, the check engine light can't self-reset, even if it can, it should still log some error, but the error went away.
I am currently running SRT Race II ECU with RMM instake (older version) they work great.
Anh - No hard code has ever been stored as of yet. Took it to the dealer & they plugged in the diagnostic scanner to discover nothing. This was without the light on at the time; in fact, it cleared itself on the 100 mile drive to the dealership! Maybe the next time it stays on I'll try again but the car doesn't run any different with or without the light on.
