I just ordered a 22-464R AEM short ram intake for my 2001 Is300. Was curious to see if anyone has had any problems or if they like this intake for our cars sound and power wise and if it brought up and CEL or stalling issues, feedback appreciated

I haven't had 1 but from reviews I've read people seem to like them alot. I don't believe you'll get a code with this intake

Those codes are caused by air tribulance around the intake filter. Some companies stop that by adding a shield around the intake filter like SRT sells. If you get this problem you can make your own plate that blocks air from the radiator

I was told to stay away from the AEM Short Ram. I ended up going with the K&N FIPK, which is considered a short ram. Love it but it was a little difficult to install the heat shield. I'm pretty sure I still didn't do it right. It's carb legal which is important to me. It sounds really nice. Paid $220 for it and it was a pretty good deal to me.

Have you tried the AEM out yet?

I had a AEM intake short ram for 3 years + I never had an issue

only problem is you will almost zero, if any at all power gains... the heat shields are worthless unless completely sealed, which they are not...

I put it in last week, sounds amazing and gave about 5hp which isn't horrible. Definitely makes the car more fun to drive, haven't made a heat shield. Seems to be working good without it

Unfortunately, 5 HP is within the margin of error on a synopsis even... I would venture that it didn't make any HP at all and may have in fact reduced HP... read my thread linked above for more info...

The intake does free up a little power. Its a cold air, but nothing dramatic. Feeling a 5hp gain is reasonable but NA mods don't change this motor much but they do make a lil difference

It is all in your head man... I've seen people do mods that they swore made their car faster, yet they were actually slower... the noise accounts for part or most of it...

You also said it was a cold air, yet we are talking about short ram intakes, which means the filter element is open to the engine bay, which generally sees temperatures in the 100 to 150 degree area, robbing 1 HP per 10 degree increase, whereas the factory intake is taking in outside temperature air...

Get something capable of logging the factory Ecu like I did and it might be a little more apparent

Yeah the AEM isn't a cold air it's a short ram. I can definitely feel the loss of power at the lower end, but when getting on the freeway it just feels a lot smoother getting up to speed.
