Default aem intake yay or nay?

wanting to get an intake soon...thinking about the aem intake, checked the site and says it has proven dyno numbers " +11 hp" . but it has to mess with the maf sensor. is there any other intake that will have proven hp performance . thinking about the Fsport intake or injen etc. thanks!!!!
oh and i dont want it to reduce my mpg either lol

not all that glitter is golds and no you will not get 11hp with an Intake plain and simple. Doesn't matter what brand. At the most you gain is 3-4hp in the IS, that's it. Really your just buying into the sound. It might "sound" faster but that's just the "butt" dyno. sorry to disappoint..

The intake that will give you the most hp is the Joe Z or Fsport, which would be 5hp. All others will giver you ~5hp or may even make you lose a bit of power, none of which are noticable.

All short ram intakes are soley for sound

Just cut a hole in your air box and call it a day. Pretty much the same results and it's free99 . If you building a show car go ahead and get the Joe z setup

I had an aem intake for a little while and really liked it. Don't let others' opinions on an intake change your ultimate decision.

On nearly every car I've owned in the past several years I've always ended up with an AEM intake. It usually sounds great, is priced well, and is absolutely no worse than stock. So to me it was always a good purchase....although admittedly it sounds more awesome on a turbo'd car.

Well, I had it with an exhaust and mid pipe so I didn't get any better mileage. However, when I had just an intake and no exhaust, my MPG actually went up a little

Your intake does not, and can not impact your gas mileage.

Anybody who thinks it does does not understand how a MAF/O2 feedback loop on a modern fuel injected car works.

(the above assumes the filter is clean and intake is correctly installed and isn't lying to your ECU about anything- the ones that lie CAN change mileage, but only for a short period of time before the MAF/O2 system tunes the lies back out)

If an OEM could improve gas mileage with a cheap intake change they'd have done that from the factory to improve fleet CAFE numbers.
