For Immediate Press Release!
October 22, 2002
Although it’s late October and the mercury is slowly descending, things are certainly heating up at the facilities of Swift Racing Technologies (SRT), located on the East Coast in Beltsville, Maryland. This particular Aftermarket High Performance Manufacturer/Tuner has taken yet another step in cementing their position as the #1 overall choice for Lexus enthusiasts.
After achieving several firsts for the Lexus Aftermarket scene, SRT has scored yet another milestone by turning the key on the World’s FIRST Street legal Twin Turbo charged Lexus GS400, utilizing the 1UZ-FE V8 engine and factory automatic transmission (both modified by SRT).
“We originally began this project because we wanted to see if it could actually be done. Once word leaked to the public that SRT was attempting such a feat, numerous sources claimed that it was ‘impossible’ and that it could not be done. It was at that point, we knew we were tackling the right project and here it is.
We were also able to uphold our mantra, ‘Performance without Compromise’. With the presence of such brute power and torque, we maintained all factory luxury features, including, power steering, ABS, air conditioning, vehicle skid control, etc. At the same time the car maintains its ultra quiet environment and luxurious drivability.”
Muhammad Choudhury

Swift Racing Technologies
Using the 1UZ-FE v-8 platform as a base, SRT is proud to announce the release of “The Scorpion”, a serialized and exclusive product, designed, manufactured, and installed solely in-house by SRT. The heart of “The Scorpion” contains a twin turbo form of forced induction that creates enormous amounts of power and low-end torque. In addition, it is also coupled with a modified comprehensive 1UZ-FE engine, transmission, suspension, drive train and electronic management components.
Once again, SRT has blurred the lines of reality and the impossible… “The Scorpion”

CONGRATULATIONS to Muhammed, Marken, and the SRT crew.
All I have to say is
Can't wait for the dyno.
PS. Instead of me calling and annoying the living heck out of you guys once a week, I will now be calling you everyday. See what you have done.

OK. It's time to set the Use 'Email Notification' by default? option to DISABLED as I want to get some sleep tonight and not have maxed out my 2MB hotmail limit.

FINALLY!!!!!
I can't believe the excellent job SRT did to my car! I will make a write up on the car, especially the difference between having the supercharger, and the Twin Turbo setup, soon! Plus I still have my race with my co-worker's M5!!!!!!

Lol. Me either (in person) in this case, but got to respect the CL rules!
Mo / Marken - looks great, congrats. MORE DETAILS!
Ahhh......Gotta love it. HATERS have now officially been released from their cages with the exception of few.

Work looks outstanding guys. One question though...
I am not trying to mouth, but am curious as to whether you think this car will actually run quick times.... Reason I ask is because the "700 HP" blower GS only ran 12.0s and 117 MPH traps if I am not mistaken...
-Ethan
Edited because I had an "S" instead of "H" in MPH.

I believe the car you are referring to dynoed at 513RWHP or so. Mo drove in it to the track on PUMP GAS, put on ET's for the rear and ran 3 consecutive passes of 12.0X. I thought that was very impressive for a 4,000 lbs car. I have yet to see even a 865RWHP car run such consecutive passes on PUMP GAS. There are a lot of high HP cars that are called "dyno queens" as everyone knows that such high boost levels are not attainable on PUMP GAS and even with race gas, not reliable on the street.
In short, I would expect a modest 500RWHP with an awesome spool on PUMP GAS. I don't think MO wants to release any other info about 4 digit HP #'s in a GS
The whole point behind this setup was to make an ultimate 4 door street sedan. By "street," I mean pump gas, quick spool, and reliability. So, NO, don't expect the TT GS to be anywhere close to 865RWHP..........yet
PS. If you have a problem with anything I said, talk to my friend here....... http://www.lexushp.com/MrScorpion.jpg

I don't have a problem with anything you said, and hope you don't have a problem with anything I said.
I thought that old car was always touted as "700hp" on "pump gas" or whatever.
When my car was on street tires with the 63 it ran 11.5x like 5 consecutive passes on its pump gas setting the first time out. I don't think my car weighs 4000 lbs, but I am pretty sure it is upper 3000s, and that was nowhere near "700hp". Then again, perhaps the "700hp" car is a different one than the 12.0 car.
Yes, my car runs on race gas now. So do almost all real FAST cars

Also, I think you are talking about the same car as I am, but oh well. Maybe when I get my baby back you can give me a few pointers on driving since I think you did very well at the track under the conditions you stated.
You know, I am glad that everyone here is 1000x more mature than on other forums, where they go into tantrums when you question anything.
I really hope to someday be able to meet up with everyone at some sort of national meet or something. I will host it in KC if you guys want, it is dead center in the middle of the country

I agree with everything you said here. This forum is a great place because of the maturity level, hard to find in other forums.
I used to belong to Maxima.org, where the maturity level could go out the window in a heartbeat. However, they did have one thing we don't have here at CL.... a yearly National meet! Hint, hint Ethan (Static911)!
I'd like to echo the sentiments of others... Congratulations SRT on a beautiful project. Quite a project that appears to have been handled with your usual style and finesse!
OK, now that I'm done sucking up
, I'd also like to make another plea to SRT to not do away with the super charger for the GS. It is dearly needed by those of us that arent quite ready to step up to the TT. Please reconsider!

Beautiful install! Congrats to SRT.
Personally, I would like to see timeslips on pump gas and 100 octane unleaded race gas using both street tires and DOT slicks. Sure, dyno numbers are nice, but we all know dyno numbers can be manipulated (intentionally or not). Furthermore, when power levels approaching 500HP or more are applied to a true 'street' car with IRS such as the GS, more HP often does not equate to improved dragstrip performance due to traction issues. IMO, there is no benefit to power levels (especially in a luxury sedan) that can't be put to the ground controllably, reliably, and comfortably in street trim (i.e. pump gas with tires that will get the car safely home in a rain storm).
Certainly, I would love to know more about transmission modifications and drivetrain durability issues.
Can't wait to see some timeslips on that beast!

Here is a quick impression of driving the car with the Twins compared to driving the same car with the supercharger(7.5lbs boost). I know everyone wants dyno numbers, but the car has NEW forged pistons, and has to be broken in properly, at a reasonable boost (3lbs of boost for now)!
1st Factor: Power (Seat of your pants feel)
The SC unit was at 7.5lbs of boost, the TT is max'ed at 3lbs now.
When I got my SC installed; Moe, myself, and 3 other people (about 700lbs extra) climbed into my car. Moe hit the gas, there was a slight pause, the SC started whining, and then ZOOM!!! Tires squealing, with a steady quick increase of our backs being pushed into the chair! This was a 7.5lbs of boost!
Same situation happened with the TT. Moe, is driving again, five people in the car (about 700lbs extra), and hits the gas. That familiar stock torque push I remembered from my stock GS4 engine, started pushing us back, then INSTANTLY, BAM!!!!! I do mean INSTANT, and I do mean BAM! Instant push into the seats, tires squealing trying to grip, and everyone holding on. No delay at all! Just like a bam-BAM type of acceleration. The best part is that the boost controll held it at the set 3lbs of boost! Only 3lbs!!!! I can honestly say that the TT setup felt stronger with less boost. The car had the TRD LSD with both setups. The cool thing is that I can program the boost to come in at different intervals, depending on mph! I can basically "boost tune" the car, so that I can eliminate wheelspin, AND the dreaded rev limiter!!!!
2nd: Noise Factor
As you may know the supercharger was always running, thus always making noise. Now, I liked the noise of all that air being blown into the engine. Kinda sounded like a jet engine when I started it up with the supercharger installed at 7.5lbs boost. Now with the twin turbos, the engine purrs. On the inside of the car, no radio on, there is no noise at all. It sounds stock. The only little noise you can hear is on the outside of the car when you first start it cold. The pistons made a little 'ping-ping' noise when I started the car. I only noticed because I had my ear next to the hood checking for ANY strange noises. This disappeared in less than a minute, when the car warmed up. Anyone that has dealt with forged pistons, knows that these pistons need a little time to warm up and expand, thus the noise was the pistons expanding. When you stomp on the gas, there is still not alot of noise (surprisely), outside of the tires squealing. Since the turbos are at the front, you don't hear them, but this quietness may go away when I increase the boost pass 3lbs max. Also the blowoff is located at the front, near the ENORMOUS intercooler (check the pics), so I didn't hear it, as much as I did with the SC, BUT the people standing OUTSIDE the car heard it, and were very excited!!!
3rd Factor: Stealth Factor
With the SC, it was kinda hard to roll up on someone, peel out past them, and they NOT know you had something under your engine. With the TT, with normal chill-type driving, no one is the wiser!
So there is my quick review, so far. There has not been any heating issue (SRT Laser heat checked all of the Critical parts after many mild-hard, and semi-long drives: exhaust piping, turbos, wiring, Lexus ecu box, etc; and protected those items accordly using the best heatshielding products (same type used on drag cars).
The dyno number should confirm my a$$ gauge! lol I just hate waiting on breaking the engine in properly, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

Congratulations.
I don't know if Muhammed remembers me, but my girlfriends brother got his GS400 supercharged by SRT, and that thing is BAD ***. I can't imagine the TT set up. My hats are off to you guys, it looks like you have a VERY bright future. Congrats!!!!
