I have a 2001 Lexus GS300 that had around 213K miles when the check engine light came on. I took the car to Lexus Rivercenter in Kentucky and they told me it needed a catalytic converter which cost $1700. I decided to get a newer model Lexus this time I purchased a 2007 Lexus IS250 with 93K miles. Had a used car inspection completed at Lexus Rivercenter and according to their inspection the car was in great condition. One thousand miles later the check engine and VSC light came on. Took the car to Lexus Rivercenter and they are saying it is the catalytic converter bank 2. What are the chances of a car catalytic converter going back with under 100K miles? I heard there are 4 converters on this car, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. However, the service department only told me bank 2 which will cost $1700. Any suggestions?
