Default Ignition system questions

Hey guys,

I messed up and changed the plastic clips on that connect to the coil packs. The problem is i didnt mark the wires. Do anyone have a wiring diagram so I can look and resolve the mis wiring.

I think i might have fried a coil pack in the process so I am thinking of replacing all the coils and plug wires. Is stock coils my best option or is there better aftermarket ones out there? Do they make a aftermarket ignition system for the gs? like msd?

Thanks for your help.

Here is what I recall. On a 2jzge engine, for each coil, one wire attaches in the upper or top position and the other in the lower or bottom position. If you look carefully at the insulation on each pair of wires, one wire has two sets of stripes, and the other has only one set of stripes or no stripes. The wire with two sets of stripes attaches in the upper or top position.

Wire colors should be the following (verify at your igniter connector, you can see the appropriate wire colors on the igniter and it is labeled C1,C2,C3 right on top of it.):

C1 = White
C2 = Black/Red
C3 = Black

Just remember the coil packs firing order is C2 closet to radiator, C3 middle, C1 closet to firewall. It's not 1, 2, 3 front to back like one would think would make sense.

And the coil packs are wasted spark, with the packs sharing cylinders 1&6, 2&5, 3&4..

You should be able to get it back up and running, you shouldn't have burnt out a pack by having them in the wrong order or +/- swapped, you can test by checking resistance on all the packs, and if the readings are similar on the one you think is bad compared to the reading on the good one then you should be ok. If the readings differ greatly between packs you could have an issue.

I've had no luck trying to trace colors from the igniter. Again, just look at the wires' insulation for the double sets of stripes.

So got the engine apart. The positive seems to be next to the clip on all 3. Is this correct?

I get no negative at all even when i crank the engine. Am I suppose to? If so does the throttle body have to be on?

The wire nearest the clip is positive.

Since i get no negative should i assume it is ICU?

Throttle body is removed and fuel pump is disconnected but i am sure nether are needed for ICU to send negative.
