Default Pinched my coil wire doing tune-up :(

I was doing all the plugs and wires in my 91 yesterday, and in my frustration I didn't pay attention and routed the left-side coil wire wrong and ruined it when I tightened the timing belt cover back on I put the old one back on to replace it for the time being, but the point of the tune-up was to replace all these old-*** wires, I think they might be original... 210,000 km's old.

The wire set was $130, I won't get warranty because it was 100% my fault that ruined it, and I really don't want to buy a whole new set just for one stupid 6 inch long wire. Does anybody know if the coil wire can be bought separately?

If it makes a difference I got Beck Arnley Blue Thunder plug wires. they were the recommended product at all my local parts stores for my car.

I'd call the wire company and tell them what happened. Some of the CS reps are compassionate and you may get them to send you a wire. At worst they my charge a reduced fee for a new replacement single wire.

Find a specialty speed/ignition shop that custom makes wires. They can do one for about $20-$40 depending what characteristics you want. Might be less too.

not sure why you are spending $130 in the first place - Lexus OEM's Nippon Denso and NGK sell the OEM wires for around $75 if you are a good online shopper

personally, if I was in your shoes, I would just buy the real OEM No 1 coil wire from the dealership at a 20%-25% discount which most any of them will give ya or else order it online from Sewell Lexus or other online Lexus dealership - the original coil wire is Nippon Denso and about as fine as money can buy!

either way, you are only talking like $14

the part number is 90919-13333

Been there done that. I went to autozone even tho i didn't buy my set from them. And the manager gave me just a coil wire for nothing. Sure is easy to pinch them if your not watching close enough.

so it pinched enough to actually break the wire or harm the insulation enough to warrant a replacement? i would think the wire is strong enough to withstand a pinch from a plastic timing belt cover.

regardless i agree with LScowboy, OEM plug wires are the way to go!

It adds resistance to the path.

It got caught under the cover and also in the path of the lower bolt for the timing belt cover, I routed it wrong. The bolt shredded through the rubber insulation and did a number on the wiring inside
