Guess that makes me a whiner, eh?
Maybe you meant "upshift". Downshift is actually good as it puts you in the right powerband.

Default Whining? Whining?

Let me get this straight – we who prefer that the GS tranny supported aggressive driving better are whining?

And you guys who like the CASUAL shift speeds, the learning ecu, surprise upshifts, and see no need for 1st gear on the e-shift, et al, call us WHINING???? I’ll accept *****ING but NOT whining!

You must mean UPSHIFT? If it downshifted you'd have power out of the corners.

What's wrong with e-shift or gate shifting? Driving through the Tail Of The Dragon run last month I left the car in M-2 most of the time and had PLENTY of power coming out of the hairpins even.

Sounds like you guys want a MIND READING transmission.

With e-shift or gate shifting there's plenty of flexibility.

Actually, I do mean downshift.

And that's what I don't want -- a tranny that trys to read my mind. I just want to select a gear and have it stick. The engine has a wonderfully broad torque band, it's a shame to have a tranny that's tuned as much for EPA as FUN.

But let's get something straight: Overall I'm quite happy with my GS, but I'm never satisfied. What, you-all don't mod your cars?!
