Default Need advice regrading PPE header

So i just got ppe headers few days. My question is how much should i pay for installation? I talk to couple of shops around my area and they quoted me $280-300. I dont know if that is a legit price for installation. Another thing is that both of the shop recommended me to get new gaskets for headers. So i need to get two gaskets right ? one for the right side and one for the left side. can someone confirm that for me? Here is the link for the gasket. so all i need is 17173 and 17173A? thanks in advance!

Sounds actually pretty good, seeing if they're not familiar with the Lexus they'll have an excess of 5 hours into it I'm positive.

$300 sounds good. I was about to get the PPE headers until I spoke with 5 different shops and they wanted $500 for installation alone.

I'd get the gasket to have while installing. If they don't need it, you can always return them.

I don't recall the part numbers but the gasket up by the engine can be reused. The gasket that connects to the midpipe should be replaced. There are aluminum crush type and will be hard to remove from the old exhaust manifolds. Inexpensive too.

i hate to partially thread-jack, but this is atleast regarding the PPE headers...

is it true that the moment u go PPE headers ur no longer street legal? is there any way to do headers/midpipe/exhaust and keep the cats or whatever is required to make it street legal?

i have an IS350 with only f-sport exhaust and i've really been interested in going PPE headers for the HP gains ppl say u get, i just am worried about check engine lights and not being street legal...

Anything other than an axle-back exhaust is illegal in all 50 states because anything else changes/removes the factory cats. No real way around that. Removing a working catalytic converter from a vehicle is a violation of federal law. Period.

Some folks live places there's no inspection though, so though it's still illegal under federal law, it's unlikely they'd ever be caught.

Some other folks live places where the inspectors aren't real thorough so they can just slap aftermarket cats on (PPE offers this option I believe) and the inspector doesn't know the difference.... again, not actually legal, but folks get away with it.

ya i like that latter method... so it is possible to add aftermarket cats (PPE branded or whatever) to the PPE headers and satisfy the requirement of atleast having some type of cat lol?

i mean i also live in florida (palm beach county) and i swear half the modded cars out here are running full exhausts from headers to tip and sound retarded loud and shoot black smoke out and apparently noone gives a crap rofl!

Far as I know Florida doesn't do vehicle inspections for emissions at all, so there's not much reason to waste $ on aftermarket cats...it'll be illegal either way... though I imagine it'd be a little bit quieter with the aftermarket cats than without, so that might make the extra cost worth it to you.

Also be aware if you ever move to a state with real emissions inspections you might have to swap back to stock parts to be able to pass.
