For the past 6 or so months, my car has had some serious lag to it. At first I thought it was the TPS, but the car isn't throwing a CEL. I remember that about a month after I had cleaned my throttle body and MAF sensor, the lag came. In the mornings when it's cooler outside and the car is just warming up, it's not so bad. In the afternoons when it's super hot, it lags a bit. Since the CEL isn't on, could my issue be a bad MAF? I have 142k on the original. Thanks!
Well temperature compensation by the ecu which is influenced from the temp probe in the maf could cause a symptom such as easy start/good idle when cold and then hard to start/irregular idle when hot.
But I would not say just go buy a new maf. Throwing parts at a problem like many shops do on your dime is wasteful.. I would invest a few dollars in a multimeter to test it before I bought a new one, you will find tons of other uses for the meter in the future once you have one.
I recommend getting a DMM that has at least 20 Mega ohms of internal resistance. It will be fairly accurate. If you got money, invest in a FLUKE. If you want an even BETTER meter, look up SNAP-ON Vantage on eBay. It's a lab scope used to test sensors. Very efficient tool.
Older the better.. They don't make them like they used to, now that Danaher bought them a while back.
Danaher will be doing what they do to every company they purchase, cut expenses/employee's/manufacturing costs/r&d and source what's left of it overseas. Pocket the money and let the company dissolve a long slow death hanging on by it's previous reputation as long as the public will turn a blind eye for.
What do you mean by "bottom part"? I just went out and sprayed out where the hot wires are. Is there somewhere else I should spray? I have the CRC Maf cleaner.
