What's the deal with the Sun Auto Type S Hyper Grounding Kit for the IS crowd? What is it supposed to do? Does it even help with anything important? I saw it's supposed to "reduce emissions, improve MPG, and increase power." It is only like $100, but is it even worth it?

 

It looks pretty. That's about it.

 

Even if I were to install it with a Hyper Voltage system? It just seems like an easy mod that "claims" to have positive things for it, but would it literally be a waste?

I believe the Lexus is pretty well grounded...
It really only works (not even noticeable) on my RSX.

It's all relative.

For our cars, it looks pretty. For older cars, it may help. Since older vehicles tend to have grounds corroding, it will affect the vehicle's performance marginally. You're realistically "restoring" what was lost by getting a grounding kit. Granted with out vehicles, they're not old enough to have such problems.

If you do plan to install one, your best bet is to go to home depot and pick up proper wiring and make a homemade grounding kit to have the same effect. The only benefit of purchasing a "kit" is it looks prettier and it's premade. Granted if that's what you're going for then by all means go for it

Or put anti-seize on the bolts in your existing ground system to provide unquestioned low resistance at the points most likely to be problematic.

Also - Hondas use a horrible daisy-chained system for grounding with more ground loops than a geothermal HVAC system. I can see a grounding kit adding value in a Honda. Toyota's engineers are really good at getting their electrical systems right. If you ever want a first class education on automotive wiring, subscribe to TIS and look at just about any of the EWD repair manuals. They're phenomenally detailed and prescriptive for how to do wiring right. Toyota's relative freedom from electrical problems compared to all other manufacturers speaks volumes about how well they get this done.
