intake and low idle
I was wondering if anyone has brought their cars in to the dealership for the low idle problem AFTER they purhcased any kind of intake.. i was just wondering if they will try to blame it on the intake OR if they can even TRY to, not sure they cna even try to say intake has somethign to do with it.. thanks!!

When I clean my throttle body this weekend, and get the TMN plugs installed, and if it still is low, I will change out the TPS.
Otherwise, I suspect its the TB.
yes INTAKE does effect the problem of low idel...
i just put my intake back on.. and my idel when parked went from 750-850 .... to 450-550 rpms.. and @ first it sounded like it was gonna die out on me... after a day... now my check engine light is on??

There seem to be too many other factors involved to say absolutely the intakes are the problem; shoot, people without intakes have the same symptoms, so that tosses the intake idea out the window.

What intake are you using? Did you reset your ECU?

and trust me... i dunno what other cases R ... but with the WeaponR intake i have on ... it Does give low idels.. 500 rpm or under in most cases... but it did increase my gas mileage ....

well im bringing my car in on tues so we shall see if they give me any BS. I believe the head service manager knows MO so hopefully he wont try to blame the intake! i will keep everyone posted

well looks like i was right.. not that they tried to be dicks about it at all.. they were actually really cool about it. but pretty much they were like. well more air lower the idle.. so by u adding the exhaust and intake theres nothing we can do.. the REAL way to test is to put the old intake back on. and i dont wanna go through all that crap cause its not idling rough.. just low.. so we shall see.. if it does start gettin worse i will put the old intake back in and tell them to fix it.
i went to lexus of rockville.

so ask them to make an adjustmetn to teh computer to tell it to have a higher idel.. tell them u want a higher idel, dont ell them "i think ther is a problem with teh car - the idel is low" maybe they know how to adjust it? i know its mroe advanced than your regular idel because its electronically contolled but i still think there is something that can be done about it
oh ya, and by having a higher idel it will naturally be smooth, as you probobly know its not smooth because you are feeling each explosion and each explosion is "shaking" the engine rocking it back and forht causing the vibrations.
my idle in park is 750, with or with out intake.
my idle in D: 450, with intake.
I have studied toyota designed carefully on the air induction system. I dont have the service manual, but I had studied all the designs on Toyota engine for air induction, all design showed a bypass pipe/valve control by the ECU. according to toyota, the bypass valve is open when the car in idle (ie in P, D, N) when your throttle is closed. the bypass valve allow air to come in the engine to raise the idle up or down (based on engine load (ie AC on-off) air temperature,....)
1st theory:
I still could not find this by pass valve or path into the Lexus throttle body yet. maybe this path is clogged up. That is why the idle is messed up.
2nd theory:
some sensors are not in specs anymore giving the ECU wrong ready (i am refering to the TSP hee hee)
Since we don't have a definite answer on the 2nd theory, I am leaning toward the 1st therory. Anyone care to comment?
at least, my car does not stall anymore after lexus clean the throttle body, I checked, they REALLY cleaned it
