I will tell you something scarry... I have a 98S which I purchased new. I know the tech who has worked on my car from the dealership from day 1. I pulled 2 plugs from my engine recently to see how they were doing. The front plug looked good, however, the rear (driver plug) was a different plug! I just wanna see if anyone else has seen 2 diffenent plugs in their engine before.

lvGS400 - Not for a very long time. The easiest way to have this happen is to go to one of the quicky tune up places. If a plug is hard to get to, like a rear plug on a V engine, they just skip it. Doubt it happens at the dealer very much or better quality shops. Just gets to be a numbers thing on cars. If they can replace seven plugs in ten minutes but one plug takes twenty minutes by itself, I have seen them skip it. Older and wiser you like to do your own maintenance or get willing to pay a little more to have it done right.

The 12+ horses come from the Torquemasters. Denso Iridiums have so much hype that ime, they should be considered as nothing special. Just a sales tactic.
NOTICE the Denso Iridiums will not get compared head to head (check their advertisements) to the Torquemasters. The TM plugs will kill them in every respect - bar none.

Running TM's since 1990.
Check out the past threads dealing with Iridium vs TM. There was something like 4 pages to the thread! Bottom line...TM is the best bet.

All GS-400/430's have IRIDIUM spark plugs after 1998. Some of the early GS 400's in 1998 had Nippondenso platinum plugs installed. They are only good for 60,000 miles at best, and have to be replaced.
Iridium plugs are replaced during the 90,000 service if it is done at Lexus or a qualified repair shop along with the timing belt. They already perform superbly, so I stick with factory spark plugs.
Just my $.02

***By contrast, Torquemasters have been clocked at WELL OVER 250,000 miles - and going extremely strong. This is with the "points" type ignition system which has far more current/spark than our systems in the GS. With the type of system we have, the projection is easily over 1 million miles. Something to think about. ***
