hey guys, i got little problem here, When I start the engine, the rev counter always shows at least a 1000rpm even tho the car is out of gear. WHY??? how can I fix that, any bad?!....
Are you talking cold start? If so, that is normal. When the engine has warmed up, it should be around 500-600rpm(exact number I'm not sure. Someone correct me?) at idle.
Mine does that on cold starts... Initially it's a little over 1.5K RPM then it drops down to about 1.2K RPM after 30 sec or minute. After the car is fully warmed, it idles at 500 RPM or so.
My 250 can initially idle at 1200-1400 rpm in very cold weather. It drops down in steps based on coolent temperature.
FYI Since we are on the topic, the ISx50 won't shift into 6th gear until the coolent temperature gets warm enough. It takes about 5 miles here is Chicago winters.
