Default F-Sport Intake Pipe Only

I have a quick question. I see that Sewell is giving people the option to buy F-Sport intake parts separately (e.g., intake box, filter, pipe, etc.) If I bought just the intake pipe, would it fit with my stock air box? The price for the pipe alone is on par with that of the Joe Z intake and I'm thinking that I should be able to still remain carb legal here in California (Sewell sells the carb sticker as well). Any thoughts?

if you are that worried about CARB, then buy the pipe only. it'll fit

Yes, it would fit. The F-Sport intake only replaces the lower intake box. Your upper intake box, where the pipe goes into, is the same as stock. And yes, you will be CARB legal, since the F-Sport intake is CARB certified.

because you still gain better airflow due to smooth pipe instead of ridges. also the resonator chamber is gone, so better airflow. that's the whole point of the Joe Z.

cause the f-sport airbox just for noise. stock airbox with joe z will give you the most power.

^ What he said, although I'm not sure the Joe Z + stock airbox giving you more power is proven, and if it is indeed true the difference would be less than 1 HP. If you want more sound, either get the full F-Sport Intake system, or dremel a hole out of the stock lower airbox yourself.

I think those ridges are only on the outside of the stock intake pipe btw. If you take a look inside you'll see its relatively smooth in there.

just incase you guys might wonder about the fuel economy. With F sport pipe + OEM box my MPG is always around 19.5 - 20 with the F sport pipe + F sport box my MPG is always around 18.5. So there is 1 MPG difference and thats for my 50/50 high way local drive.

I just bought the F sport pipe today from Sewell plus the F sport air filter. I was suprised to see that with the ClubLexus discount these parts are slightly cheaper than buying the Joe Z with an HKS filter. Anyways i'm hoping the F sport pipe comes with the couplers, does anyone know if this is the case?

^^ What was the Pipe to Pipe price comparo.... just wondering

Good question about the hardware....!! You need at least 4 clamps & 2 sleeves to install the pipe.
(I am not sure what you will get)

Where did you find just the pipe? I could only find the part where they sell the lower intake box and filter together.
