$67 part and I had G&S Muffler install it for $45 in labor

I was looking for something between the stock exhaust sound and an aftermarket axel-back. Bottom line: I don't think this was the solution for me because I could just barely hear the difference from inside the car...it was a SLIGHT difference. If I had to describe the change, I'd say it's ever so slightly deeper at start-up and idle, and slightly throatier above 3000 RPM, after which the JoeZ/F-sport intake completely takes over at about 4000 RPM. From 4,000 RPM+ it might be throatier than just the F-sport intake. If you didn't drive the car everyday, you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference (I doubt your significant others/friends would notice unless you told them).

To give you guys a reference on how slight the change was....it was MUCH less than changing from the stock intake to a JoeZ/F-sport intake.

Anyways, here's some audio clips (no video) of before and after, mic near the exhaust:

The guys at G&S Muffler (Atlanta metro area) let me hear the car with the exhaust disconnected after the stock resonator (so all cats, stock resonator, but no mufflers), and it sounds pretty aggressive...they like that setup and recommended doing a muffler delete (straight pipe replacing stock mufflers with nice looking aftermarket chrome tips) for $200. If any of you guys are in the ATL metro area, might be worth your time for them to let you hear your car with a muffler delete. I might be going back.
If you want loud (a Deep, bassy loud) I did a muffler delete leaving the stock resonator but just basically cutting the exhaust off from the 'Y' pipe and had them add extra tubing just so the air would flow out. All for $70+$10 (for exhaust tips). It sounds really nice. But not really efficient on gas. But I don't think $200 is worth it, just have them cut off the stock mufflers, add a few hangers, and weld pipes to the end..

And heres what it looks like

Heres what it sounds like... Sounds a bit distorted (in a tunnel LOL)

Yup, basically the same set-up they recommended for me, except they were going to use some stainless steel tips (about $70/pair). I think 3.5 in weld-on tips are the way to go if you're going this route. When I heard it in person, it was definitely a deep tone--just too loud for me.

Yup, I have that set up right now! Except i have 2 in pipes from the 'y' pipe since it was a perfect fit..
I was thinking of picking up magnaflow tips but decided to get clamp on's since i was on a budget.

TL;DR: how can I make my Tsudo exhaust a little louder under acceleration without a midpipe or resonator delete

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but as a car noob everything I’m looking up online is confusing me. Basically I have an AWD IS and just got the tsudo axleback installed. I love the sound, but just want a little bit more DBs to go along with it since the intake takes over around 3.5-4k. I wouldn’t mind a deeper tone, but I like what’s there and the main goal is sound volume. I’d get a midpipe if I could.... but awd.

What’s confusing me is that what I’ve looked up online, a muffler and resonator serve 2 different purposes. The resonator basically affects tone and the muffler will affect the sound. However, according to this thread an aftermarket resonator with an aftermarket exhaust will make it a little louder. I guess I kind of answered my own question with that last sentence since you all have first hand experience, but I wanted opinions on what you all think would be a good option for me. I like the drone volume in my car now but wouldn’t want it much louder, and I don’t want to do a Reso Delete since I heard there’s some raspiness with this. Magnaflow and the Aero Turbine AR25 are the options I was looking at afermarket.

Side note, a couple of the links posted on this thread lead to magnaflow mufflers... is that what everyone is replacing the resonator with? Shouldn’t it be a resonator?

thanks in advance!
