Default Fidanza flywheel + Spec clutch

So I finally got around to installing the lightweight Fidanza flywheel and Spec stage 2 sprung clutch. I do feel a difference... the revs are quicker and it just has a better overall feel.

However, I am getting a chatter/vibration/noise when I'm moderately accelerating in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. It starts at around 2,000 rpms and disappears around 2,500 rpms. I understand that there is an issue with vibration with lightweight flywheels but people only experience that while in neutral and there is no load. I'm getting this noise under load and between 2,000 - 2,500 rpms. Does anybody know what may be causing this? Is it normal? Could it be a balance issue? I did not have the flywheel balanced with the clutch. The instructions says that the flywheel is CNC machined and it is very close to the correct balance. Any input is appreciated!

I hope we're not the only 2 with the flywheel. Assaultech sold a lot more I thought? unless people have it but just haven't installed it yet...

There were many more sold, thought many more installed but I haven't heard from anyone else. It might be a balance issue, have you contacted SPEC Tech yet? They might have some insight.

205-491-8581 you can ask for Jeremy, there might be better for that application but he can help ya.

Sorry for the chatter man, wish there was more I could do to help. Hope to get it figured out, give me a shout if you need any help.

From what I know the chatter should be from the clutch. Like Exedy clutches are known for chatter but it's got a nice bite to it..

chatter is most likely caused by the lightened flywheel. Ive driven alot of clutches with factory flywheel and no chatter, but once i put on a lightened one gg

heard from lots of people with different cars with lightweight flywheel setup saying it's just how it is and can't do nothing about it. or is it?

from all the stories I found online... the "normal" chatter that people are experiencing is when they are in neutral and it goes away once they start driving. For me, in neutral, it's fairly quiet. But once I hit 2,000 rpms in 3rd gear, it starts to chatter and goes away around 2,500 rpms.

This is not normal, chatter under no load is normal.

sorry, i have the exact same set up, but never got around to writing a review. i have the same problem as you, with the vibration noise under load from 2000-2500rpm. i've mostly just put up with it. i think it has to do with inadequate dampening from the sprung clutch compared to the stock unit.

Knowing I'm not the only one with the issue kinda puts me at ease. When you had the clutch and flywheel installed, did the shop balance it for you? I passed on the balancing, but now wondering if that may be the cause of the chatter/vibration noise?

isn't chatter/vibration coming from flywheel?
i just thought chatter/vibration is normal in lightweight flywheel world. maybe i'm wrong.
