Default Anyone have the RMM Intake?

I'm thinking of getting one but would like to hear the opinion of anyone who has or has had the RMM cold air intake on their GS400.

How does it compare to the SRT intake. I'm sure it doesn't provide the same horsepower and all but cost wise it's a huge amount less.

Anyone have any realistic ideas on what kind of hp/tq gains it provides? I've hear this intake is quieter on the highway than the SRT intake, is that true?

I did alittle wrightup on the diffrent types of intakes that are out on the GS400/430 take a look and see what each intakes pro's and con's are https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...threadid=48693

P.S.: this writeup was based on a accumulation of personal experience, stats, and members experiences. I have not tested all the products side by side, but I did gather info through time from various dyno's and experiences from other members

Cool, thanks for the info. Good stuff! I think I'll stay away from the RMM intake now

2 choices- 1. go w/ a drop in Tom's filter from steve G. would be best bang for the buck, and 2. you can buy my WR intake for $160.00 ship to you.

I learned the hard way. I got the RMM intake from a friend that was selling it really cheap so I picked it up and installed it in my car. I am gonna take it off soon and keep it stock cause I can't stand the fluttering noise. I am sure that most of the intakes have some sort of noise but the RMM intake fluttering is annoying.
Good luck on finding the ideal intake for the 400

I'm curious, when do you hear this fluttering. Maybe there's something defective or damaged from the last owner? The only noise I hear on my RMM intake is a whistling sound, which I only hear with the hood opened. I assume you've cleaned and re-oiled it with the K & N kit? A clean filter element should be completly pinkish/red, not dark or with white spots.

When driving normally, my car sounds pretty mellow until I go above 3000 RPM or at WOT. Then it sounds great combined with the exhaust. Kind of like a refined Mustang GT, but not as loud or raspy.

As an experiment, try running around the block without the air cleaner portion attached, just to see where the problem area might be.

I am got the first gen RMM, pretty happy with it, maybe time for me to try something new. but I don't have any problem with RMM. pretty quiet intake, if you step on the gas, there is a quick whooss sound, it that want you refering too? that is normal, all intake does that when the air is suddenly rush in.

It happens when I just acclerate. When I get on it it sounds really nice but then when I just cruise and hit it a little I get that noise again. Maybe its the intake that is bad or something but I don't really care about it anymore.

Just curious. Do you all have the 1st generation or the second generation RMM intake? The second generation uses the stock intake scoop to feed the intake CAB. It also uses the OEM plastic hoses. I've seen the 1st gen which has a whole new pipe and filter without a CAB. Just curious.

For those that have the 2nd generation, are you experiencing the same results that those with the 1st gen are stating?

2nd Gen . No Problems, noises, etc. Basically a stock pipe with a K & N tapered cone filter on the end.

I will eventually be fabricating a CAB, since the RMM kit doesn't insulate from the engine heat very well.
