Here's a few:
RMM
Injen
Weapon*R
Swift Racing
K&N
er, and another one or two I can't remember.
The Swift comes with an ECU which is a good idea, to match the fuel with the increased air flow. Without an ECU, an intake results in some low-rpm response lag.
Some get intakes for the 'flash' under the hood, and for the sound. But if you're getting it for performance, don't expect a whole lot, except for ones with an ECU.
Some have problems with check engine lights coming on that won't go away.
Because of conflicting data, possible lag and engine lights and noise, I'm not that interested in an intake.
ok here are your choices, with some pro's and con's:
RMM:
pro: looks good, will work with S-AFC
cons: does nothing for preformance without a chip, and in some cases ( like mine ) slows down the car
SRT:
pro: The real deal, it comes with the intake, a heat shield, and a chip and is one of the top rated intakes for the GS
cons: flimsy heat shield, the ECU cannot be reprogramed for future mods
Weapon R:
pro: looks good, and can be coupled with there own ECU or a S-AFC, and has a very good heat shield
cons: without the ECU the intake doesnt add alot of power, with the ECU the intake is not worth the money, and they dont provide the heat shield with the intake.
K&N:
PRO: well known company for there air filters that comes with a million mile warrenty, will work with S-AFC
CON: looks too plasticy, and has a sorry excuse for a heat shield, does not come with an ECU
Injen:
pro: looks good, and is the strongest stand alone intake, will work with S-AFC
cons: does not come with a heatshield, does not come with a ECU, no aplication for GS400
RS Akimoto:
pro: looks good, and is a very strong stand alone intake, will work with S-FAC
con: does not have a heatshield, there is no aplication for the GS430
This should help you decide, if your going to just get an intake without an ECU then I would go with a Injen for a GS 430 or a Weapon R for a GS400, as for a intake ECU combo, SRT is probably your best bang for the buck, since the Weapon R costs almost twice as much to with there ECU, heatshield, intake combo

any problem with the srt/ecu combo with the check engine light, or any thing else???
All,
I'm a little confused here. Please help.
1. Does an intake without an ECU calibrated for it reduce performance? If so, does it reduce the perfomrance in the low end or throughout?
2. If it reduces performance in the low end, does it increase performance in the mid and high ends?
3. If it increases performance in the mid and high ends, does the increased performance in the mid and high ends compensate for the loss in the low end?
I ask because all the articles I have read on intakes (for other vehicles) state that there is an increase in HP and torque. Here is a link to RMM's website. Check out the claims of increased HP. http://www.rodmillenstore.com/gs_400/intake.htm Also, it doesn't seem logical that these companies would put out an aftermarket performance part that would hinder performance.
Your expertise is greatly appreciated.

MAC,
Whatever RMM claims on their website is not completely accurate.
Remember, 2nd Gen. Lexus GS ECU is different than Honda's. We have OBDII and VVTi. I've heard lots of people complaining about RMM intake. They felt that they were losing power with the intake.
There was an offical Club Lexus Dyno earlier (not sure if Ethan post up the dyno sheet) but he did post up some number. You can use those as your reference. Injen I believe gave out the most gain during the dyno event. If you really want, you could build a CAB yourself for optimal performance.
An intake without ECU recalibration would not produce much gain. The stock fuel map is pretty efficient already.

Go with the SRT.

where did you got it from?
any cons (minuses) with intake so far?
