SRT intake problem
Hi guyz,i just finished my srt intake inestilation with ecu that comes with it. my question is how can you tell that the ecu worked perfect or not, i've try it on the rod after i don, but i didn't fell that much of diffrent in my gs430. its like that power only from the intake without the ecu. did i missed somthing? is there any somthing wrong? the car is working like normal. (during the instilation procces i had som wrong wires in the wrong place so i had to try untill i got it right, is that gonna hurt the ecu)
does the ecu working or not, is there somthing in the middle or either workin or not working. thanks in advance.

um i dnt hav a srt intake but i did put a Weapon R on my gs n only advice i culd say is to take jus unplug the ecu and everything electrical to the intake then take the red and black terminals off ur battery. this will reset everything. plug all ur intake electronics back up b4 reconnecting the battery. after the intake is properly set up. double check it.
then reconnect battery n start her up. that might help as long as everything is plugged up right. if that dnt work then idk
Good Luck dude

You most likely will not be able to feel that much of a difference anyway. You said you did feel a difference but only from the intake and not the ecu~~~How do you know its not the combination of both? It only makes about 15-20hp at the wheels, IF everything is perfect. I know on their site they say that it gives a solid 30hp, but that is not the norm. We have installed many of these over the years and we have seen as little as 5hp and in a few instances as much as 27hp, but the average is about 12-22hp. Even at a full 30hp, if you say the power is from the intake and not the ecu, then that means you do feel a difference. if you feel some kind of improvement, then thats probably what you are going to get. Its not like you install the SRT intake and now your car is going to feel like a new ISF or something. Its a good intake and "ecu" setup and it does add more power than just an intake. But still, its not going to be a huge difference.
I agree with BP-VVt-i says. Its very important that you "reset" the Lexus factory ECU. Do this: Unplug battery, then step on brake or turn on lights for a minute, or leave the battery disconnected over night. This will clear the memory of the ECU. Then reconnect the battery and as the ECU reads the new signals from the SRT ECU and Intake, it "learns" and makes the changes as you drive. If you didnt do this, not all the benefits of the SRT kit will be realized.
Most likely, If you made a mistake in connecting the SRT ECU, you will get a Check engine light. YES, you can damage the Lexus ECU if you install the SRT ECU incorrectly. So be careful and be sure you do it right. My guess is that everything you have done is ok, its just that you may be overestimating what this intake will do for the performance of your car.
I just installed a setup on a 1999 GS400 for a customer of mine. He bought some used Headers on eBay for $279, Got lucky and won an Apexi AFC on eBay for $129 and bought a used Weapon R intake from me for $50. He already had an axle back exhaust kit and removed the center cat and replaced it with an X pipe and Magnaflow 3" round resonator. The intake, AFC and and Headers totaled him $450, and a $75 labor charge he was out the door for $533.00. Thats less than what and SRT intake costs and it yeilded 45hp at the wheels compared to his baseline dyno run stock. Cheaper than the SRT setup, and more power with room to go bigger with a retune of the AFC. The bad thing about the SRT "ECU", its not adjustable. Its ECU is made to install on a stock car. So if you get a nice exhaust, headers, bigger throttle body or bigger injectors, the SRT ECU cannot be tweaked to benefit from those add ons. An Apexi is always better because it can be fine tuned every time you do more mods later.
Good luck bro.

I second GS300-2000. I made the mistake of just using the streets after my intake install and it was like I just got an increase in noise, but after reseting everything properly i could feel a difference. Its not much if all you have is an intake but i can feel a difference in the mid-high range and the overall torque is improved.
thanks bp-vvti,selvarace, and gs for your comments,i'll try that and i'll see if any thing change, but my car now at the body shop, after its done i'll try that, thanks again for your response

You should be able to feel a difference, I felt a difference adding headers and that's only about 17hp increase over stock, so 30hp should be a big difference. But don't feel bad if you don't, many members have similar expirences with SRT systems, just search and you'll find them.

You charged $75 to install those parts, how long did it take you to install the headers, what's your shop hr/rate?
