Default Tanabe Exhaust install help

When I installed my Tanabe exhaust, the spring loaded bolts ended up almost fully compressed. I can see space in between each coil, only ~1mm though. (I torqued bolts to 32 ft-lbs)

Should I get some washers to put behind the shoulders on the bolts so that the springs have some additional room, or is this normal/ok? tx

If there is no exhaust leaking from that flange and the tips are lined up ok then you are fine.

Coincident with installing the exhaust, my vent button which I leave set to AUTO is always indicating it is in recirculation mode (except for right at initial start-up where it starts at fresh-air).

The tips are lined up great IMO, and I can't detect any exhaust coming out of either of the flanges (sprayed them down with a water bottle and looked for bubbles). I do however hear a hiss when I put my head under the car on the driver's side, but I'm thinking that's just the fuel pump or something.

I would guess that the smog sensor would be somewhere up front in the car, anyone know where it is? I would think even if I did have a leak, at speed there would be no way for it to get into the cabin or near the sensor... tx again guys & gals

I had check VSC, ABS, AFS Off indicators come on last week, and took the car to dealer. They said that when (another Lexus dealer) installed my F-Sport springs/shocks they pinched a speed sensor in the front passenger wheel. The dealerships were good about sorting out the issue getting payment settled without me having to get involved too much. Anyway, I'm starting to wonder if something could have happened then.

I took the car to the dealer yesterday and the tech & adviser didn't know all that much about the smog sensor and made me an appointment for next week with a senior tech.

I have Tanabe Exhaust and it did line up perfectly,
as I looking at the picture, I cannot say whether you will have leak or not
but this kind of gap is not acceptable.
You should try to align them again, hope you didnt
have any prior damage on rear end. And if you bought brand new Exhaust,
call Tanabe (310) 783-0200 and talk to James, he is the sale manager but also take care of defective parts. Make sure contact the place where you purchased the part first. As far as I know and looking at Megan header/exhaust system, our o2 sensor located in pre cat/ post cat total 4 of them, 2 in bank 1, each side, and 2 on after cat (if you check
megan racing OE RS exhaust you will see the hole on the mid pipe)
Hope this is helpful.

Oh, and dont trust dealer too much on aftermarket parts.

When you say line up perfectly, do you mean your flanges seat flat together when bolted up?

I'll unbolt it and try it again, when I installed it I got it as close as I could get it or so I thought at the time. It didn't seem like the Tanabe opening was large enough to open over the the entire cone part of the stock exhaust. I figured it was supposed to be like that to allow it to pivot & flex some.

Yes flat, no gaps, not suppose to have gap between there. Tanabe exhaust has pretty good fitmet, try to adjust litte more and use some of wd-40.
