Default Custom Exhaust??

Has anyone one done a custom exhaust on their IS250/350? Im being a cheap *** but I dont want to cut any piping. I was thinking of unbolting where it Y's and putting custom piping with magnaflows?? A local muffler shop said it would be about $450 bucks for everything IMO not bad.

I like the idea but you can get it done for less then that Magnaflow sounds good on the Lexus. You can get the megan mid pipe if you wanted and pair that up with a custom axle back?? Really depends on what you are looking for? If you want sound and nothing more put new mufflers on and take out the resonator and 2nd set of cats and that will do it for you...

^ you can get the megan mid pipe for ~ 400$ or less. so even if you did that and a custom rear (axle back) section you should still be around 600$ If I had my IS still this is what I would have done.

Sooo, let me get this straight. You're saying that you can buy the Megan mid-pipe ($400) and still have a shop bend the tubing and weld the mufflers of your choice (which will probably run you another $150 for Magnaflows) for $600? Where is this shop???? Maybe in China... You might get a shop to make you a "custom" exhaust (i.e. hacking the OEM mufflers off and replacing) for somewhere near $500, but considering the cost of a Megan mid-pipe added to the of labor involved in custom-bending and welding that has to be done to make the axle back section (unless this shop stocks 2IS axle-back tubing), that doesn't seem to add up. Unless you do it yourself...

Depending on how much sound the OP wants, I would do one of two things:

1) If you want the Magnaflow "muscle" sound, go with your buddy's shop that will do it for $450.

2) If you don't necessarily want the Magnaflow sound, watch for used exhausts in the 2IS classified section. People are selling them all the time.

Good luck!

Javier

If you want a muscle-note, Borla is a good exhaust system too. I also think think getting the HKS Ti exhaust kit is good and make sure it's custom fit for the 2IS. The HKS has a good note as well.

The Megan midpipe works really well to give a deeper tone.

I have a custom exhaust pretty much.. its a 3 piece exhaust with HKS Hi -Power Muffles. Its a custom H-pipe which eliminates 2 of the cats. So im putting out a nice amount of pressure but still keeping a good flow. For some of you who might recognize this exhaust, it came from Jay aka DjKhanvict. (its the one where the Dyno shows 30hp increase )
