The ULTIMATE Turbo Q&A Thread!
I have a gs400 and I am looking at the vvti or the non vvti gte, the most i do is add fmic and wastegate and bov. Im gonna run off the stock setup so my question is can i use the ecu from either of these motors and what are the obstacles besides wiring will i face by going non vvti. Where is a good place to get a motor i'm in florida.
Power braking system is not affected. Works just the same as it always does. 0-60 times, stock is 7.5sec. At 8psi you will prob drop that down to 5.5-6sec range, maybe faster depending on how you drive.
It all depends on your power goals and driving style...if your looking for a great street turbo so something with little spool up time go with a GT35R or if you want more power go with something like a PT67 or greater...
I have a blitz boost controller which recently started freaking out (not 100% sure its the prob though) so i'm gonna have jeff check it out hopefully its something simple. He bought the hks boost controller but mostly cuz he's a hks ho lol...You want to have something good otherwise if you get a boost spike past what your engine can handle u can say bye bye motor...
okay, heres a question that i've asked before but is different
I'm still considering the turbo vs. a Swap.
I figure the swap to be about $2000 (not including installation which will be done by my neighbor, Standalone, anything else so about $4-5k) and will get me to about 280-300hp.
I figure if I go NA-T that it will cost me about $4-5k and will get me to 300-350 hp.
But my problem is, I'm not going to want to stay at 300hp
. I know when I hit around 400 i have to get the VB upgrade and eventually upgrade my internals. But my power goals are between 500-525 hp.
If i do the swap I'd keep it stock twins for awhile and save up for an upgraded turbo, upgrade injectors, fuel pump, all the good stuff
So would I be better off in the end with a swap? If not, would my motor hold up at 500hp?
thanks and sorry for the long post
