I have plans to help a friend install this kit on his truck in a couple weeks. After researching it looks kind of promising for our cars. I still think we are going to run problems tuning our computer. Does anybody know if LMS superchargers needed to retune our computer for their install??

Here is the web site for STS. http://www.ststurbo.com/

I forgot-- the universal turbo kit is less the $3k

The LMS kit doesn't touch the ECU (nothing in the US can)

It runs 5 lbs of boost and adds about 40 hp to the car for around 5-6k.

^^ You can get a boost controller to regulate the amount. I am sure that you are still stuck to the 5 lbs of boost with a TURBO....This way seems to make more sense to me and stuff I have done in the past. Its just getting someone to MFG a turbo manifold for our car!!!!

At just 5 lbs of boost I don't think you'd want the extra expense of an electronic boost controller.

The wastegate spring controls the maximum amount of boost.

An electronic controller can have some advantages, but they're most commonly seen when someone is going to be running a fair amount of boost, and wanting to change the max boost for different conditions... not when running a tiny amount.

Right but how are you regulating that boost Our car doesnt have anything to control it so you would need a bost controller and not to push it but as a safety net IMO....

I dont see this or ANY boost going anywhere...

The wastegate spring would regulate the boost, but here's the thing, you'd have to get a custom spring for 5 psi, as the average wastgate spring is usually 7psi. and running on wastegate would actually regulate the boost way better than any electronic boost controller would. If I were to do forced induction on these motors, there would be no way I'd even chance having the ability to turn up the boost higher than 5-7psi due to the compression ratio of these motors-and the fact that nobody has really build a 2 or 4gr motor yet, leaves questions on how much power one can really handle..i.e. we all know that the 2j can handle 700-800 all day long on stock internals.

I think that right now the best bet for power would be a standalone, and/or something to control the VVT-i.
