Question How much additional noise? All information is gladly welcomed!

I currently have an injen intake with a greddy evo 2 exhaust in my car and love the sound of it. I'm pretty interested in purchasing a set of S&S sometime in the near future. I looked around the website and couldn't find an answer, so I had to start a new thread. I was wondering how much more noise you get when these headers are installed. Hopefully it's not too much because I really want these headers with minimum additional noise.

Thanks guys,

Logan

Logan......you will notice a VERY VERY small difference. I would bet the only difference is because they can't use the factory heat shields. It's an awsome mod! GO FOR IT!!!

I'm looking into the same mod (headers) with a GS300 and have the same question. What kind of real HP gains can you expect and what is the noise increase.

Confused about the comment about the heat shield. What bearing does that have on a header? That would effect the intake if anything.

When using the V8 headers with the stock exhaust almost no change to noise on idle and cruising and very little full throttle. This is because there is very little overall added surface area between the S&S and the stock anifolds it is just that the S&S flow so much BETTER! Heat shields also shield some sound so removing them adds the above difference.

GS300 and IS300 aftermarket headers are usually much longer and therefore more surface area to resonate and conduct sound. Therefore increase the sound more than the S&S on a V8.

My personal experience was the tone change, but I felt the sound level stayed the same. I don't know if the heat shield really has any significant sound level impact inside the engine bay. I would not be concerned about it.
