Is it MANDATORY to unplug your battery when putting in the intake? I would think that unplugging it would screw something up.

 

I did it before i installed my LMS. When you disconnect the battery it will automatically reset the ECU so the car 'learns' the intake.

 

Not only is disconnecting the battery NOT manditory, it shouldn't even be recommended. The ECM is continuously adjusting fuel trims, so there's no reason to worry about the extremely minor changes that an intake will make.

So the battery doesn't have to be disconnected?
What do the directions say?It would be nice not having to disconnect the battery and not having to reset the windows and radio stations.
Not a big deal but nice.

 

The only time the battery should be disconnected is when you are:
1) Working on the car's electrical system
2) Working on the car's fuel system
3) Intentionally trying to reset everything for some diagnostic purpose

I will also +1 Gernby. Without having reset the battery, I have found that usually the modifications will be picked up within about an hour's driving time max and generally within 15 minutes or so of non-stop driving, which is about just the same as if you had disconnected the battery and let it learn from there.

Only time I do reset the battery in my RX300 for instance is if I am going to the track and I will reset it to dump the ECU of the daily commute and reset it for colder night weather and less sitting in traffic, but this is Mexico so these things occur here.

 

there is a way to reset the ecu without having to disconnect the batter...i read a while back a search might bring it up...its simply unplugging a 2 fuses...this way u dont loose the navi/radio/seat memory...
