Question Intake installation question

Why do I need to disconnect the vehicle's negative battery post during installation? I will not be starting the vehicle until the intake is completely installed. I know the battery disconnection may have to do something with the MAF sensor, but don't understand why. I am afraid if I disconnect the battery during the installation I will loose all my settings in the vehicle and read something before about having to retrain the windows. Please advise.

You do not need to disconnect the battery. Like you said, just don't start the car during installation and you will be fine.

Why don't you just follow the directions and do what it says?Disconnecting the battery is not rocket science. It takes a couple steps to retrain the windows. Not rocket science either. but you will not loose your settings. =D

Search lobuxracer 's post. He has a thread somewhere that shows which fuse to pull to reset your ecu. However, disconnecting the negative will work. You will only lose stuff like seatbelt warning, and the window thing. That's an easy fix, just roll the windows all the way down then all the way back up.

the only thing you lose if you d/c the battery is the radio presets and window function. both which can be very easily put back to normal.
