TRD cap/Thermometer and your present came in today!!! Should I flush the system (how) and how do I DIY the thermometer? (I searched!!!)
Unless you want to do it Kev?

Thanks!!
Dude, just let the professionals do it. Changing the thermostat is very easy, and if you dont know how to do it, you're not up for the task of flushing your coolant. Not that it's hard, but it requires getting under the car.
Can't really flush unless you have a flush machine. How long has the coolant been in there? Drain and fill is all that is needed if its only been about 30k miles. Open the cap and then open the drain in the bottom of the radiator. Look for a clear plastic tube sticking out of the lower engine cover that should give you an idea of where the drain is. Just open it like a fauset in your bathroom. If your up to a bigger challenge jack the car up and remove the lower engine cover. On the sides of the block, there are drains. Like a fauset. Be carefull as this makes a big mess unless you put a hose on the drain spout.
The thermostat should be just 3 nuts and its out. Just make sure you drained the coolant first. And always replace the rubber O-ring.
If you have a 400. Take the engine cover off the top of the intake plenum. On the top of the throttle body housing there should be a fill hole to stick a funnel into. It can be removed with and allen wrench or socket. I believe its a 10mm allen. Just twist the funnel into the hole if you have a plastic funnel. The threads in the hole will help hold the funnel in place. Be carefull, sometimes the funnel works itself loose and falls out. You can put some electrical tape on the funnel if the hole is a little bigger than the funnel. Creates a seal so the coolant doesn't leak out also.
If you have a 430 just fill in the opening where the radiator cap goes. You might get an air bubble stuck in the cooling system. If this happens you can usually hear a girgling noise in the dash when accelerating. Just drive it, let it cool off and refill the reservour. Keep an eye on it. You might have to refill it a few times depending on how much air gets stuck in the system. The air usually gets stuck in the heater core. If you look at the heater hoses, you'll notice it sits higher than the engine making it difficult for the coolant to get to the heater core. This is also why I recommend the funnel in the throttle body filling method.
That should be it.
Good luck Mike.

Its right behind the front intake...so take that off..Its one bolt, if you can't figure that out, stop, skip the beer, take a shot of 151 Bacardi and cry and just take it to the dealer....lol
I believe it was a 10 mm bolt, you can see I have an extension, as stated before its 3 bolts.

Taking it off....

It is off now

This is where the Thermostat lays...the 3 bolts/cover holds it in place. Notice the rubber seal, you NEED to ensure you have this on the new Thermostat

Place a towel under the valve before u take the thermostat out so u don't leak coolant on your belt (and have loud noise coming from it for a few hours, lol)
