I just installed the Tanabe to my car............great. When I took out the stock exhaust, the driver side can has this black thing on it and do I need to take this off and put it on the Tanabe? What is this and why is it only on one side? Any input?

 

It's a noise dampener.

Only if it makes an annoying noise at certain rpm. I'd leave it off and see how it works if I were you.

 

I was also wondering what that rubber piece was when I saw it. Good to know.

Funny the things some car manufacturer does to make sure they are no unwanted noises in the cabin. Multiple intake resonators, rubber noise dampener, Acura with Active Noise Cancellation which sends a reverse phase audio signal through the cars speakers. Madness I tell ya, but I like it.

diablodude, You wouldn't be able to install the dampener on the Tanabe since it doesn't have that cross brace to bolt it on.

 

I was gonna use duct tape if I had to.....haha
