Default Tanabe medallion exhaust droning coming to an end

after cruising with the Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust system for a year and half I have grown very tired of the droning. I had a full intake and exhaust ( intake, larger plenum and manifold, headers, high flow cats, and Borla cat back.......It sounded like V6 thunder )on my G35 before the GS so I am done with the noise. I drove in my wifes TL today for a couple of hours and really enjoyed how quiet the car was and the fact that throttle doesn't equate to the drone you get from an after market system. In the end I think I am just getting a bit to old for exhaust noise. I want a quiet cabin.

Any of you guys get tired of the damn noise. I am looking forward to being blown away by the silence. I even found a roll of dynamatt in the garage and was thinking of doing the wheel wells , trunk, and under the back seat. I am gonna go in the extreme opposite direction. LOL

I too, removed my Tanabe and have no regrets. Like you, perhaps I'm getting too old for the noise. The car just drives so much better now in factory form. So quiet and feels like it's got more pickup and go! I think it's just cuz I've lost the sound of the Tanabe so I don't hear the 'roar' so I have the perception that the car isn't 'struggling'.

Ah finally some adults LOL....dont bother with the dynamat, replacing the exhaust alone will do the trick

Hopefully you don't have any "dynamite" otherwise you'll really be blown away, but not from silence.

P.S. It's been probably 6-7 years that I've been without Tanabe exhausts on any of my vehicles...loving the quiet. The older you get, the more stock you'll ride.

I removed my HKS Hi-power after lived with it for 3 months. Since I have a pair custom exhaust tips on the stock mufflers.

"dynamite" was suggested by the spell check. Pretty funny considering I want to get rid of the noise. I still remember how amazing the ride quality was before I lowered the car as well, but I love the way it looks. The noise from the exhaust doesn't give a better look. If/when my coilers blow I will put the stock suspension back on. That would be amazingly comfortable but not as pretty. as we age I think function out weighs form. example ...fanny packs on old people. LOL

Nothing wrong with fanny packs. It's a pretty darn handy thing!

Another function over form item I love is a station wagon.

I still can't agree here. The tanabe is so quite. Im 30 so I consider myself a grown up but I enjoy the sound of a exhaust. Paired with a intake I think this is a happy medium between a loud exhaust and stock. As far as the drone I can't even tell its there.

Glad your happy with your decision though.

Another reason why I took mine off is that I personally feel that an exhaust on an automatic just sounds strange to me. That's just my opinion though.

I wasnt able to pick up my car today because they needed to order new F sport bushings for the car. I have been enjoying how quiet the RX loaner is. I know my GS will probably be quieter . I have to get rid of the minor suspension knock that has developed recently. Hopefully the new bushings and insulation will get me totally silent. If I have to I will ditch the F sport front sway bar if needed

I think a good pair of round 4" tips looks good on the GS3, it fills up the exhaust cut-out perfectly.

If I had it to do again I would probably make them a little more flush to the bumper. I found them in a little hole in the wall muffler shop.
