most of you probably dont think about this much because you have AIR where you live. (i live at 6200 feet ASL)
im curious, with the additional HP and TQ you have near sealevel is it possible to turn the traction control off, and light the rear wheels from a stop? not that i condone that sort of thing, but up here ive broke them loose a couple times but you have to be on somthing other than dry pavement for that to happen.
I chirped the tires a couple times with traction control ON... but for some strange reason, I've never been able to break traction (only tried a small few times, though) with TC off...
This reminds me of a trip I made back in college to Durango, CO in my '91 Integra. We did the 19 hour trip non-stop in the triple digits all the way. Once we got into the mountains, there was NO POWER at all. I didn't have any idea what the problem was, so I thought I had toasted my engine with all the high speed driving. I was so embarrassed when I pulled into an auto shop to ask them to look at it...
you guys dont know how good you have it, i paid for 305 HP but get about 70% of that.
Yeah I do. I was stationed at Lowry AFB in Aurora for a year. I remember driving my '79 AMX through the Eisenhower tunnel on my way to go skiing at Vail and crawling at 25 mph because the main jets in the carburetor were far too rich for the altitude. I ended up buying a set of jets two sizes smaller just so I could go skiiing and still hit 60 mph on I-70 through the tunnel. I had similar issues 4 years later when I had my Yamaha FJ1100 in Denver (back for more training) and it took 20 minutes just to warm up. In that case, I had to richen the pilot jets (yeah, just the opposite of what you'd think) to get it to run right on cold cycle.
I hear you loud and clear...Colorado is beautiful, but I love being much closer to sea level. Even my turbo car likes it MUCH better.
