my SC has been set up like this for a couple years now....

I run the sts turbo setup on my truck. I've got the GT-67 turbo with front mount intercooler. There are quite a few trucks with this kit putting up really good numbers. I've yet to get mine on the dyno but I've been chatting with the tuner that programs the ECU's recommended for the STS(they call it pcm). He's only an hour away in San Antonio and says I should be around 450 whp with my mods no problem.

That is true. I heard some people run this type of set-up because it is more "cost efficient," less piping, etc.

10k? not even close try 3k still need to make exhaust piping and have fuel management though.

cost has nothing to do with it... rear mounts are for cars that simply have no room for a conventional setup. When its all said and done, its roughly the same cost as a 2jz NA-T project...unless u start building your internals, tranny, larger injectors, management, going with a larger turbo, etc., etc...
Ive played with a number of turbo configurations in mine...even ran a monster T66 before Theres nothin like the sound of a V8 pulling with boost

I always tell people that if they HAVE the room, do a conventional set-up...if not, rear mount will work almost as good

bumping an old thread.

So has anyone actually installed a STS on a GS4? If so, how much boost are you running and how are the stock internals/transmission/drivetrain holding up?

GSracery is running something very simular where the turbo sits after the headers. His is a custom kit from XS Engineering and he's putting up 367whp and 380 something tq.

I just searched for pics of his engine but I can't find a good one of an up close shot. 367hp at the wheels from a GS4, thats awesome. I wonder how the stock internals are holding up...

PS: Now that I think about it, you're running more hp than he is with a 1UZ. How are your internals holding up with close to 400hp?
