I have no doubt the internals are rugged enough, but I seriously doubt the transmission will be happy with this, and to top it all off, you'll still have a 142 mph top speed unless you replace the OEM ECM with a standalone. You're not going to do all of this for less than $20k with any reliability at all.

IS-F - factory warranty, 432 hp with drivetrain designed to take the abuse.

IS350 modded to 432 hp. No warranty on engine or drivetrain, 41% torque increase, must have standalone engine management or must crack Toyco ECM encryption or must live with IS-F flying by past 142 mph.

Sorry, the IS-F is cheap compared to modding the IS350 to perform like an IS-F. This has been true with many cars for many years.

It seems that we got crossed in our topics...

I was posting about modding the IS250 AWD, and I think you would agree that the cheapest way to gain 100 HP on one of those would be to do a 4GR / 2GR swap. Of course, I'm sure you can come up with a LOT of challenges too (ECU compatibility, etc.).

I don't know about modding a 250 awd with the 350 engine. I thought one of the reasons why the 350 didn't get a awd option is because there's not enough room for both the 3.5 engine and awd drivetrain at the same time? Could be mistaken.

I think IS 250 owners should get some good decent mods. I am not a racer nor will I ever put my car on a track or take it to some late night street races. I just like cars and I like working on my own car. Am I stupid for wanting to get a little extra HP out of my daily driver?
If any performance companies are out there reading this please make us some good upgrades there is a market for it an you know will pay for it we own Lexus's for god's sake you know we have more money then some honda owner.

This doesn't make sense. If I were an aftermarket performance manufacturer, I would assume that IS250 owners didn't care about performance, or they would have bought the IS350. I would also KNOW that the IS250 AWD market is too small to even consider.

Not every former honda owner has a hard time with the payments... no need to stereotype.

Dude your talking crazy! There are more 250 owners on the road than 350 owners. I wonder why? Maybe because you get a great car with a ton of features for an awsome value. Now lets think what is the average age of IS owner. 25 -35 years you think? 35+ with families are buying ES, LS, and GS Models. Now you tell me What 25+ year old with a new lexus IS250 wouldn't want to spend a few bucks tricking out thier ride that they are so proud of.

If this is directed at me, then I think the majority of what you wrote supports my assertion tha the 250 will not be the target for performance mods. It is for the average guy that wants tons of features for an awesome value, and isn't interested in spending "a few bucks" for more power. That's why there are fewer 350s in the first place...

Ok your right. Lets make parts for the few, and sell limited quantities. I wouldn't want performance parts manufacturers think of making good business decisions and sell to the larger market.
You have to come down from your 350 High Horse, We all want performance parts and I really do hope that some good things come out for the 250 because I really love this car.

I'm really not trying to offend you, and I'm certainly not on a "350 high horse". All I'm saying is that everyone that bought the 350 bought it for the added performance, and I believe that is a much larger market than the IS250 owners that will want to spend money on performance mods. Keep in mind that the type of mods mentioned in the beginning of this thread aren't typical bolt-ons (cheap). Anything outside of intake, headers, or exhaust are going to be big dollar items, and still won't deliver what the 350 delivers while also being less reliable.

Come to think of it, the most exotic performance mod I'm aware of for the 2IS is the Megan headers. Is there ANYONE that has bought them? I'm honestly surprised they were ever developed, and the lack of their popularity probably means that their won't be other headers developed either.

I think the folks who think there will be no upgrades for the 250 are not correct in that line of thought. The 250 will out sale the 350 just due to the price. Not by much but overall its going to just sale more.

Keep in mind too that the AWD always got higher handling reviews during test then the 350 due to the power put to all 4 wheels. In the snow states don't expect to blow by me when the white stuff hits the road unless you like driving sideways into an embankment :-) Ok, just ribbing ya.

Anyways, I like the AWD due to the more stable drive and not the power. At some point beyond the current loan, when its paid for, I will tinker with it. But I am not looking for big power. That's what the R1 is for in my garage.

And besides coming from a Supra TT and the other cars a 350 would not fill the role for speed anyway. Once you've had 540hp under your rear end and and blast from 0 to 60 in around 4.3 seconds, there is not a lot in a 4 dorr sadan that will compete. Might as well pick up another Supra TT and covert it to a single T, right?
