Default Quick install ques...how much???

2000 GS400

Install:
new Torsen 3.76 LSD
new half shafts (supra)
new PI TC
new tranny cooler

How many hours? A local shop is @ $80/hr. labor rate. They were saying maybe 7-8 hours for all because they have to drop the tranny for the TC. Please let me know how many hours of labor I should expect. Thanks guys.

I have to look at the repair guide book at my other job, but i remember 7 hrs for TC on GS4's, Tranny cooler only takes like less than 1/2 hr (did this over this past weekend)

Labor rate fluctuates all depends on where you take it, they can actually charge you what the larbor rate states or they can charge you how long they actually take if they've done those type of work before...

Is the Torsen LSD like the supra LSD, complete or like the TRD in which you have to actually take apart the LSD, If it's a direct swap, i believe it should only take a good hour or so...

that 7hrs for the tranny R/R sounds about right to me also.

Round up for a full hour for the cooler

The half-shafts are half-done if they're doing a 'pumpkin' swap on that rear-end. If they're just taking out the internals and putting the LSD in place, that could take longer due to setting the gear back-lash.

Between the shaft and rear-end work, it could be anywhere from 3-6 I think.

The LSD is a direct replacement (complete unit). I purchased that and the half shafts from Team Lexus about 3 mos. ago...thanks again Apex84!!! I AM GOING TO BUY THE PI TC!!! I can't wait, I hear this is an evil combination! LOL!

So I gues it will be anywhere from 6 - 9 hours to play it safe for all @ $80/hr. I guess I'm looking anywhere from $500 - $700 for the installation.

half shaft is the axle that connects from the differential to the rear wheel.

I'm not sure if the half shafts add to performance gains but they are new and the ones I have in there now are old. I want to do some research on this...I ONLY heard that these Supra half shafts are stronger (but I'm NOT pushing large amounts of HP anyway). They might be lighter, and if they are THEN THAT would add to performance...I'll have to look into it. These were thrown into the deal when I bought the LSD. I got a GREAT deal considering I could probably sell these shafts on the Supra forums for anywhere from $250 - $300 for the pair.

Rock ... hit up CL vendor/member Aliga. His brother owns a shop in queens and he has done alot of work for CL members and VERY reasonable prices. He's done everything from the Daizen control arm bushings to TC installs, etc...
