if you're referring to CARB approved, you just need to make sure that the pieces you get have a CARB sticker &/or cert.
offhand, i believe for intakes, only AEM, Injen and K&N are CARB
no headers nor y-pipes (racepipes) are CARB
exhausts are usually cat-back or axle-back, which means you may only need to contend w/ how loud they are
also, no F/I (turbo or s/c) are CARB

Very few after market products are "legal". 1 or 2 intakes and maybe some exterior and interior mods. Even lowering your car has restrictions.
If you are really worried about breaking the law, I would just leave everything alone
