Default How to get some extra power

Well i'm adding some audio system parts to my car and in the future will probably add parts like rims, suspension parts, etc. I wanted to add some extra power to make up for the extra weight and to make the car a little faster in general. I want to add only about 10-30 hp. What are good ways to go about this? i'm considering an exhaust from l-tuned or hks. The sound of the l-tuned sounds nice, but there might be other brands i should consider. What kind of hp can i get from an exhaust system? exhaust system plus something else? Thanks.

between exhaust system and C.A.I. you will be lucky to get 15hp. do some searching there is a lot of aftermarket support that can help you get 30hp. it's just going to take more than what you were thinking.

mazzuri headers for the is300 would work and they give a fairly good bump in hp when coupled with a good flowing exhaust.

more NA 2JZ guys should be using those headers, they give a lot of hp for the money.

Go with a direct flow muffler to start and then fool around with the rest of the exhaust. Everything you do should be step-by-step, then you learn how each part affects the car. Don't worry about how much hp.

Default if you want a little quickness

1. light weight 16 rims. Tire rack will help 15-17lb light
2. CAI...SRT...check the GS for sale posts
3. New Exhaust: Apexi WSII,Tanabe, Carson Tuned...Borla is nice...
4. Remove your Full size spare (replace with nothing or a Supra skinny one)
5. Take out all needless weight in the car, Floor Mats, Barry Manilow CD,etc...
6. Tranny Flush (not drain and fill) the Full Tranny Flush Toyota Type IV
7. Rear Diff fluid change...DIY bannana GS website...if available
8. Royal Purple or Amsoil
9. Throttle boddy cleaning...(2.99 can of heaven)
10. BG44K in the tank
11. Fresh set of plugs (too long of a discussion..TM Plugs)
12. 225/50/16s lower profile+light weight tires 20-22 lbs,(load rating 91-94)
13. Braille light weight battery

you will be quick. if not confused..search all the above in previous posts.

otherwise...buy some fake L-Tuned stickers on ebay...make sure you put them on in the cold so they peel off nicely in the summer...good luck.

btw. how am I still a rookie?

according to his profile, he has a 1999 gs300.

all the bolt on and na mods for the 2jzge isn't really worth the money. i know some guy that spent well over $3k for bolt on mods and he only gained 30hp on dyno.

Turbo or SC is the only way to get a decent amount of HP...
