Default Taking the Borla plunge...

I decided to go with Borla way back and now that the release exhausts are here I'm trying to track down the Cat-Back with X-Pipe, standard use (not off road use) exhaust - Part #140236.

IMO, looks like its the same as the offroad - just doesn't remove the cats - subs the X-Pipe between the 1st and 2nd set of cats.

Started making inquiries and am waiting back on prices and availability so hopefully soon.

If anyone hears of a dealer with this exhaust in stock please post it up - love to get one asap, just trying to see if I can shave some $ off the retail price since with shipping from Borla directly its about $1265.

Thanks,
George

Whenever you get it.. take many pics and try to get us some sound clips.

I'm interested in the same exhaust but the everday use one.. not the obnoxiously loud one.

Found it - the street legal, everyday use version, part #140236, Titan Motorsports in Orlando for $975 ($1033 total with tax). Borla charges $1199 direct plus $66 shipping so saved about $233.

Here in 5-10 business days since they have to order it from Borla.

So now the waiting part begins, been wanting to get this exhaust for a year. Now to find an installer.

Please take plenty of pictures of it before you install it too. I'm really interested to see what that mid-pipe is going to look like. It sounds like it will require cutting the stock mid-pipe after the secondary cats, and weld their on.

Good luck...Borla makes a fine exhaust. Just be ready for some resonance between 2000 and 3000 RPM, that Borla and most other aftermarket systems have. Borla's however, is much more subdued in my experience.

I look forward to your review.

that all has so much more to do with the engine than the exhaust.

as far as how its made, it will either encorporate two aftermarket cats that borla feels they can get away with and still call legal since the primary's are untouched and the others at least exist. or what gernby said about having to cut, which would suck.

If the SMOG legal exhaust had new cats, then it would be more expensive than the off road version, not less.

Well see, hopefully I'll have it in my hands next week and I'll document with plenty of photos from uncrating to post-install.

As for sound, I'll see what I can do - either try to borrow some sound recording equipment or just have to video it.

Thank you! I'm really interested in hearing it. Althought I won't be able to tell how loud in the recording atleast we'll know if its a deep sounding exhaust. Thanks for the effort Coaster!

Thanks but I'm going to get it installed by a shop - don't have the tools or the experience in installing an exhaust and I'd rather have someone else do it in case there are any issues.

I'm in Melbourne btw - hopefully have it in before next weeks Orlando meet but it'll depend on shipping.

The street legal version does require cutting the stock mid-section, so it would be a difficult install without a lift.

NP, just thought I could lend a helping hand to a fellow CL member. One thing I dont understand people talk about the Borla exhaust as if its the best one, for some reason I dont like it. Any inputs as of why people like this exhaust so much??

Borla has a history of making good exhausts - both in sound and performance. Plus they did the one for the unfortunately not completed IS350 race car.
