Default K&N Air Filter?

Just wondering if anyone already put in K&N filter for the 2IS?

questions:

1. Any noticable difference?

2. Saves gas? more power? (That's what they claimed...)

3. Where to get one cheap?

i've been running the drop-in filter on my IS350 for about 3 months now. personally, i don't feel any difference in performance or any change in mileage. i'm planning to put my stock one back pretty soon. PM me if you wanna buy me used filter.

I would fancy a K&N, might do it at my next cleanups.

Had one in my last car. No difference in anything that I noticed. Sold it to another owner telling him that I honestly couldn't say there were any gains whatsoever. He ended selling it a couple of months later.

I have the K&N drop-in filter on my IS350. No noticeable improvement in mileage or in the "butt-dyno". But throttle response seems improved.

I have a drop in K & N on a Corvette and an RX 330. Both of them are louder than the stock drop ins. They are the only two I am personally familiar with.

Aloha

I have the drop in filter with the Joez intake and you can feel the difference. There is also some difference in the sound. I recomend this combination.

Default Try AutoPartsWarehouse.com

Got mine there at a good price..Once you buy two stock ones you more than pay for the K&n and a recharge kit...that will last forever.

I haven't noticed any real changes in performance/mpg/etc...but its only been in the car a couple weeks....

thanks!

i tried couple in my hondas before, actually the engine sound more quiet than with OEM filter (different than earlier posts).

i got mine from a perfomance store in OH and unfortunately they dont have the one for IS......

for my previous hondas, it didnt change much in mpg, but it drives much smoother than with OEM filters (I changed my filters at 30K miles, that might be the reason why cos the OEM filter was all clogged up.....hehe)

Mind over matter... If anything, the K&N is less restrictive (at the cost of particle filtration) than the paper element. With less resistance, it should be quieter, not louder.

Did you ever take the air cleaner off of a car completely and drive it?

We (in the old days ) use to drag race with no air cleaners at all and they were very loud. Granted that was carbs, not throttle bodies.

I've never driven without the filter. Sounds like those filters in the old days were the large round ones surrounding the carb.
