Questions about welding on exhaust tips in No VA

My brother's co-worker did it for me and he didn't have to take off the exhaust.
I have 4" tips and length 5"

Here is a pic of th Gap that I dont like. Darn, I didnt even of that as a problem... til I saw this pic.

Here s another shot from the back. It looks great... fom the ack and at an angle. But from the side... I dont know.

They are 4.5" total length. But they start slanting very early
