Dave, thanks for sharing your pics. My head is spinning from looking at all these tranny coolers and mounting locations! B&M, Hayden, Permacool, etc.

I'm sure they all do the job, but of course I'd like to get the best solution.

If anyone is interested in pics I can post them.

I would like to see pics. I looked at http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0535&langId=-1

this link, which is what I think you are talking about. It appears to be quite spendy. Which of the 3 units did you purchase? It appears you are paying $100 premium for stainless hoses and colored aluminum connectors. Pics of your install would be appreciated by all I am sure.

DUDE!!! This thread is 3 years old!!

You're right though. In that link of your post, they are using braided lines, hence the special aluminum fittings. Top of the line stuff.

The stacked fin design is better than the traditional radiator core/fin look that we're used to seeing.

Personally, I got a B&M Supercooler that I think was around 12" x 6" or so. I got it because I had just installed the Precision Industries torque converter in my GS400. (which is freakin awesome by the way)

Before the cooler, I could actually smell the tranny fluid overheating in some spirited around town stuff following a buddy in his Vette. Since the cooler, it's never happened once.

Good luck in your search, ....and watch those thread dates! lol!

Thanks for the heads up on the old thread. Funny, I did a search for a tranny cooler and then started reading and just never looked at the date. You are right that is a way old thread. Oh well, sometimes these things need to brought out of the grave . As for the tranny cooler, I am about to get an RMM 3.76 LSD and I figured I would get a tranny cooler and put it on while I am messing with the car. I plan on the PI TC soon. Thanks for the info.

BA_GS400,
What kind of transmission fluid are you using? Are you still using the stock T-IV, or something synthetic?

I use AMSOIL Universal fluid, and I have NEVER smelled the fluid since I changed it.

Enjoy your car!

I have the standard Toyota Tranny fluid. Seems like it's Type IV like you said.
I can't overstate how hard I was driving it from light to light, city block stuff for 10-20 min. Without a cooler, any tranny fluid would have overheated IMO.

Amsoil tranny fluid is the best. You can drive hard and the car shifts like butter.. It even feels quicker off the line than the type 4 stuff.
