Looks like surface rust. Should come out with a wash and look as new.

Washed, used S.S. cleaner to no avail. Had to use very fine steel wool to buff it out. Is this normal? My aftermarket corvette exhausts that were SS never had surface rust.

Wow, that sucks. My tips have no blemishes at all - maybe you ran through some acid or other chemical...

What kind of S.S. cleaner did you use? Brasso has worked great on all of my cars chrome tips, and can be used on Stainless Steel.

i've only had mine for less than a month but im sure there are plenty of other members have had theirs for a while w/o any problems. i'd guess you drove through something that reacted with the steel? but w/stainless steel who knows? i'd try asking tanabe or just keep asking around (service people, shops, etc.) if they've seen anything like it. good luck!

No problems with mine either. I would recommend that you use some Blue Magic on them. One time my 18" Momos (on my Corolla) had similar "things" appear on them like that and I used Blue Magic and they disappeared
